SAINT WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH / OUR LADY OF GRACE CATHOLIC CHURCH FORT LUPTON, CO Note from Your Pastor Happy Easter – Alleluia !!! The beauty of Easter is that it finishes one thing and begins another. It brings everything up to life. Jesus has won for us a New Life. St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta said this: “Yesterday is gone, Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” And how important it is for us today, as we find ourselves in the middle of all the Coronavirus cases listening how many people are sick & dying – here is our invitation to not lose hope, after all the worst is behind us, now things will only start getting better. Yesterday is Gone, no need to go back there, just forget. Tomorrow has not yet come – no need to worry and plan for your future – just simply wait for it to come, how easy is that to do? And after all just enjoy the today – what are your blessings today. Your Brother in Christ, Fr.
Easter Sunday Of The Resurrection of the Lord 4/12/20 Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Wa ttenber g, Colorado 8062 1 Library Corner... THE LORD IS RISEN! HE IS TRULY RISEN! HAPPY EASTER! As we complete our Lenten sacrifices and rejoice in the Risen Lord, we have before us the challenge to continue what we began in Lent in order to raise our hearts and minds to God as a way of life not just a yearly practice. As we celebrate the Lord at His Ascension in contemplation of His return we must always remember: GOD WITH US To help us with this reality Edward Sri has a new book with this in mind! We have read and learned why Jesus died for us but why did Jesus live? Encountering Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew shows that Jesus didn't just come to be our teacher, a miracle work- er or prophet, or even just Israel's savior and redeemer. Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us. Notable Scripture scholar Edward Sri leads readers on a faithful exploration of Jesus's kingdom - building mission and how it revealed Gods presence, which remains with us today. Especially in this time of great trial, we need to keep in mind that God is with us in all things. You can find this book and many more at Ignatius Press: www.ignatius.com Remember your parish library! Many many books to strengthen your faith and love of God and neighbor. St William pray for us! Easter Sunday Of The Resurrection of the Lord 4/12/20 PRO-LIFE DISCUSSION Easter is the celebration of Christ's resurrection and proclaims that Jesus is risen, alive among us and especially alive in the Sacramental life of our Catholic community. The Easter Vigil includes a symbol of Jesus as the light that scatters the darkness around us. Christ is present among us, calling us each day to follow after Him and radiate His example onto the world. Easter represents the fulfillment of God's promises to mankind and is considered the most important holiday on the Christian calendar. Easter is the principal feast of the ecclesiastical year. Easter Sunday is considered the beginning of the Easter season of the liturgical year and lasts for seven weeks, ending with Pentecost. Celebrating Easter as the singular event proves that those who trust in God and accept Christ will mark His resurrection as the triumph of good over evil and sin. In March, a notification from the Prefecture of the Papal Household stated that, “the liturgical celebrations of Holy Week will take place without the physical presence of the faithful.” Pope Francis' Holy Week and Easter services will be held without the public attending because of the Coronavirus outbreak. Cardinal Stella, Prefect of the Congregation for Clergy, believes “The Holy Spirit would give the grace to all Christians so that they may experience a „beautiful and profound‟ Holy Week.” “Even in the sadness of mourning, illnesses and a tragedy of which we do not know the extent and, especially, the duration.” The Cardinal continued, “I believe that in the absence of physical participation, we must find a profound way of greater intimacy with the Lord to communicate with the Church, with the Sacraments.” When Cardinal Stella was asked about the many Christians unable to celebrate Easter at the Vatican, he replied, “The timing of the order to stay at home during the Lenten season was a call to prepare for Christ‟s resurrection in their own homes.” “I believe that all the pilgrims on their way to Rome or to the shrines must think that their Easter must take place in the family, in their small environment, where the Lord calls them to live the mystery of Easter in this time.” The faithful understand that it is Christ who blesses, not the priest. "Our Lord is not restricted by the Sacraments; He can come into our lives in these very trying circumstances in many ways," Cardinal Stella said. “I believe that, today, technology truly allows us to live a communion that would seem virtual. But, in fact, it is not just virtual, because I believe that the Holy Spirit also passes through these new things in today‟s world and speaks to hearts, speaks to consciences, speaks to little ones and speaks to great ones.” With the reality of celebrating Easter at home, without our Catholic community, we as Catholics can turn this unprecedented situation into an opportunity for faith and an experience of hope. To support personal and family prayer during Easter celebration, Catholic Bishops released a statement encouraging the faithful to participate, at home via television and/or the internet. The Bishops‟ statement included a suggestion by Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, in which he asked the churches to recommend that an adult in the family explain to the children the religious meaning of the Easter celebration and how under normal conditions Easter would be celebrated in the Church. The Easter Vigil also includes the proclamation of the story of our salvation in the Scriptures and the renewal of our baptismal promises. Renewing baptismal promises, along with the focus of baptismal Holy water, is most compelling at the Easter Vigil. That renewed focus compels us to reflect on our own baptism. It calls us back to our central identity as Catholic Christians and strengthens us “as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God” (1 Cor. 4:10). Living our baptismal promises inspires us to be good stewards of God‟s plan as individuals and inspires us as a Catholic community. Prepare your soul for the challenge of God‟s plan this Easter. Renew your promises of Holy Baptismal at home as a family or in prayerful solitude. V. Do you reject Satan? R. I do. V. And all his works? R. I do. V. And all his empty promises? R. I do. V. Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth? R. I do. V. Do you believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father? R. I do. V. Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting? R. I do. V. God, the all-powerful Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has given us a new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, and forgiven all our sins. May He also keep us faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ forever and ever. R. Amen. Then sprinkle all with Holy Water. This has been an extraordinary Lenten season and an unfamiliar celebration of Easter. Make time for prayer, adoration and reflection. Reach out to family, friends and loved ones. Stay safe. Happy Easter to everyone! Portions written by Junno Arocho Esteves / Cindy Wooden / Catholic News Service Knights of Columbus Corner All business meetings have been cancelled until further notice
