New ACE Staff Members 2021-22 Denise Thomas – Music Hello! I am so excited to be the new music teacher at ACE next year! I have been teaching music for 26 years. 22 of those in Greenville County, and 4 years in Texas. I attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ for my Undergrad work, and Graduated from Clemson University in 1996 with a MEd. (Go Tigers!). When I am not busy being Lead Elementary Music Teacher for GCS, or fulfilling duties as President of the Elementary Division of SC Music Educators Association, you can find me at home in Greer with my beautiful family, and our peppy Pomeranian, Chocolate Chip! My husband Mark and I have 2 girls, Deborah (21) who is going into her Senior year at Furman University, and Erica (17) who will be a Senior at Greer High in the fall. I am looking forward to all the exciting music we are going to make starting in August!
Ellie White – 4th Grade Hello! My name is Miss White and I am so excited to get to know each of you in the Augusta Circle community. I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri and moved here to Greenville to attend Furman University. There, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Early Childhood Education. I have previously taught both 2nd and 4th grades in Spartanburg County and am thrilled to join the 4th grade team at ACE!
Rebecca Baker – 5th grade My name is Rebecca Baker and I will be teaching fifth grade next year. I have previous experience teaching first and third grade in North Carolina. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Masters in Teaching. In the Fall, I will start my specialist certification in Educational Leadership at Clemson. Go Tigers! In my spare time, I love DIY projects, thrift store shopping, and exploring new places!
Anna Penland – 1st Grade Hello! My name is Anna Penland, and I am a recent Auburn University graduate. I’m thrilled to move back to my home state and to explore Greenville. I love traveling, going on walks, cooking, fly fishing, and shopping. Working at Augusta Circle is a dream come true, and I am so excited for a great year with all the amazing first grade students, families, and team.
Amy Livesay – .5 Resource I graduated from the University of Utah in 2003. Since then, I have lived in Virginia, Indiana and now South Carolina. My husband and I have 3 children and 2 dogs. I love reading, hiking, and traveling with my family. I’m looking forward to being a part of the community at ACE!
Taylor Simpson – 5th grade I am excited to begin my teaching career at ACE! I have lived in the upstate all my life, and am excited to have the opportunity to teach here as well. I graduated from Clemson University this past May with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and have recently graduated from Clemson University with a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, running, golfing, hiking, or anything outdoors! My absolute favorite thing to do when I’m not teaching is cheering on the Clemson Tigers!
Monica Kelly – Cafeteria Assistant Manager Hi! I’m Monica Kelly. I’ve lived in the Greenville area for 30+ years. I currently live in Liberty, SC with my amazing husband and our sweet German Shepherd, Samson. In my spare time, just to name a few, I enjoy spending quality time with our dog, travel with my husband, any kind of outdoor activities and landscaping. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for 25 plus years, and been with GCSD (FANS) for a year and a half, and absolutely it! I am super excited about meeting the whole staff, getting to know every child by name and being able to call ACE, home.
