PARISH HAPPENINGS Meet our Lectors! You see them every week at Mass and listen to them proclaim the Word. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a lector? We asked two lectors from the CTK Lector’s Ministry: Serene, who was newly commissioned on 23 Jan, and Jeffrey, who is celebrating 20 years as a lector! Serene Tay It took me a while to gather the courage to sign up as a lector, but joining the CTK Lector’s Ministry is definitely one of the best decisions I have made. Not only has my knowledge and understanding of the Word significantly increased across weekly Break Open the Word meetings, the ministry is also close-knit with a wonderful camaraderie. Being part of the ministry helps keep my faith at the top of my mind and it’s much easier to journey with Christ alongside like-minded people, instead of having to go it alone. I am grateful to be surrounded by welcoming and supportive fellow lectors, as I continue to learn, grow, and serve in this ministry! Jeffrey Gomes Being a lector has allowed me to be conscious of the presence of God in my life. I call these the “Jesus moments” in my life. In good times – and there have been countless, I rejoice in the Lord for all the blessings I have received. In bad times, He is by my side carrying and comforting me. And somehow, the tears dry very quickly. Those of you who have young children, believe me that we also become role models. My daughter Felicia used to read at the Children’s Liturgy when she was 5 or 6 years old. She said it was because I did it too. She is now 14. I’m grateful to be in a community of like-minded people who will journey with me in this life. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Do you have a love for the Word of God, a desire to experience the Word in your everyday life, and a calling to share His Word with the people around you? Then follow the lighted path and journey with us as a lector! Email ctklector88@gmail to find out more! To announce your events in the bulletin, please email your requests to comms@christtheking.com.sg by Monday every week.
