A Message from Fr. Matt ... Dear Brothers and Sisters, The other day I was talking to my sister in her kitchen about something kind of serious, for adults anyway. My niece came in and said, “Uncle Matt, did you hear?” I wasn’t sure what she was talking about. Did something bad happen? Something good? Did she decide which school she is attending? I told her that I don’t think I had heard. She then very excitedly told me about what had happened at the Grammy Awards the night before! Harry Styles wore Easter Flowers three different outfits. The first and the third were “fire,” that means good. The second outfit was a little “sketch,” that means bad. She told me a bunch of Last Day for Envelopes things about Taylor Swift and other Grammy winners. She loves music and was The last day to turn in Easter Flower excited to share, so I was excited to listen. When she was done, my sister and I envelopes is Palm Sunday, March 28. laughed and continued our serious conversation. The Easter Sunday, April 4 bulletin When I read the Gospel for this week I thought that Andrew and Phillip insert will list names. The list will probably felt similarly. They come to Jesus and say, “Hey Jesus, there are some include ”in memory of” and/or Greek guys who want to speak with you.” Jesus doesn’t say, “Ok, one second,” ”in honor of”. For some there will be a or “Sure, bring them over”. He launches into this very powerful talk about slight change this year: we will not be the Son of Man being glorified and glorifying the Father and grains of wheat listing who these are being offered by. dying and him being lifted up and drawing everyone to Himself. Now is the time for this to happen, Jesus says. If I were Philip or Andrew, I probably would Mass & Confession Schedule have said, “Wow, this is intense. I guess that’s a ‘no’ then to meeting with these This schedule is altered for Holy Days & Special Events Greek guys?!” I mean, that wasn’t really an answer to their question. Or was it? Monday Saint John Paul II often talked about Jesus as the answer. He said: Mater Dolorosa Mass - Noon “Only in Christ can men and women find answers to the Tuesday ultimate questions that trouble them...It is Jesus you seek St. Wendelin Mass - 8:00am when you dream of happiness...it is He who provokes you Wednesday with that thirst that will not let you settle...it is Jesus who St. Wendelin Mass - 10:00am stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives.” School-Only - If School is in remote Jesus is the answer to the questions of our learning status, Mass is canceled hearts. Only Jesus. His answer to Philip and Mater Dolorosa Confession - 6:15-6:45pm Andrew is stating that what He is going to Mater Dolorosa Mass - 7:00pm do in the days to come will be the answer to Thursday everything. It is the answer because Jesus will St. Wendelin Mass - 8:00am embody unselfish love. He will take on all of Friday our crosses so that we will never have to carry St. Joseph Mass - Noon ours alone. He will take on all of our sins so that we can have hope when we feel trapped Saturday in them. He will give a way to purify our Mater Dolorosa Confession - 11:00-11:30am hearts through Him. We can rediscover the St. Wendelin Confession - 11:00-11:30am clean heart that God has placed in us, as the St. Joseph Confession - 11:45am-12:15pm Psalm says, and find again God’s Law written St. Wendelin Vigil Mass - 4:00pm Mater Dolorosa Vigil Mass - 5:30pm on our hearts as Jeremiah prophesied in the First Reading. Jesus will do this because of Sunday Masses His love for you. Jesus is the answer to every question. St. Wendelin - 7:00am Mater Dolorosa - 8:15am So how is Jesus the answer to my niece’s question about if I had heard about the St. Joseph - 9:30am Grammys? If I had started talking about Jesus, she would have felt like maybe St. Wendelin - 10:30am I didn’t care much about her excitement. It is not talking about Jesus that you and I are called to, although sometimes it is; rather we are to show Jesus to the Open Prayer Times wrap around Weekday questioner. We can do that by showing that you care, that you are interested.
