A local rosette is awarded to the best exhibit in each horse class, which is the property of any exhibitor living within a 15 mile radius of the Town Hall, Romsey. Those eligible must wear a WHITE arm band. 15 MILE RADIUS OF ROMSEY FOR LOCAL ROSETTES Rosettes and Championship Rosettes The society will award 1st – 6th place rosettes and will be awarded at the judges’ discretion. Championship and Reserve rosettes and cards will be awarded in each championship. Cups and Trophies Winners of the Society’s cups and trophies must collect them from the Chief Awards Steward at the Main Show Secretaries area, before leaving the showground, as they cannot be sent after the show. An engraver will be available at the showground where cups and trophies can be engraved at a small charge. All cups and trophies must be returned to the Secretary, clean and undamaged by the 1st August the following year. Please do not take cups and trophies unless you can guarantee to return them safely by hand or registered post by the above date. Height Measurement In all classes where horses or ponies are subject to height limits the judge may order the exhibit to be measured, unless the exhibitor can produce an appropriate official measurement certificate. To allow classes to run to time numbers will be limited to 25 animals per class. 13
ENTRY TICKETS Admission will by Exhibitor Wristbands and will be provided on the basis of total entry fees paid. Additional tickets may be purchased at the special Exhibitors’ advanced rate of £14 with your entry. Details from www.romseyshow.co.uk PALMERSTON RING (2) WORKING HUNTER PONIES RIHS Qualifiers (Run under the rules of the NPS) The NPS/NAF M&M Working Hunter Pony Longines Royal International Horse Show Championship Open to pure bred registered M&M stallions, mares and geldings, five years old or over. The owner must be a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS for the pony to enter this competition. Riders may only ride one pony in each class. The highest placed pony from each class to qualify for the final at Hickstead 2019. Qualification may pass down to third in the event first and second have already qualified. At the final riders must also be NPS members. The Owner’s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit. This is also a qualifier for NEDZ/Equifest (5) taking place at the East of England Showground in August 2018. For registered horses in Grades: A, B & C. Ridden by Adult, Associate or Junior Members who will be aged 12 years or over in the current calendar year. In the event of insufficient entries lower prizes may be withheld. Rule - 76.6 Prizes: 1st: £50.00, 2nd: £40.00, 3rd: £35.00, 4th: £30.00, 5th: £25.00, 6th: £20.00, Total: £200.00. Entry Fee = £18.00 (Pre-Entry £18.00) Members of the Romsey show will be charged £14 to enter. THE VOLVO PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP (60) kindly presented by Messrs. Rudds of Southampton to the winner of this class. This championship was generously sponsored by Paris Smith LLP in 2017. Class 10 CONNOLLY’S RED MILLS SENIOR NEWCOMERS - FIRST ROUND Rule 312. Rule - 76.6 Entry qualifications: to be ridden by Adult, Associate or Junior Members. (a) For registered horses in Grade C that have not won a total of 375 points. Four double clears will qualify - in accordance with rule 312.6 (b) For all horses born on or after 1st January 2012, irrespective of points. Horses will only be eligible for double clear qualification to Second Rounds if they reach the age of six years or under in the same calendar year as the Newcomers Final - in accordance with Rule 312.6. Qualifies for: Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round. Qualifying period 1st June - 31st May inclusive. Numbers to qualify: Those horses which jump a clear round in the First Round, followed by a clear round in the jump-off, in at least four Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers First Round competitions in any qualifying period, will qualify to compete in a Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round, irrespective of their placings for prize money in those competitions, which will be determined by the normal Table A Rules (Rule 191). To obtain a double clear qualification, even if the horse is the only clear round, it must jump a jump-off round and jump clear to gain a double clear round. If combined with an open: In the event of 30 or more starters the class will be split with two sets of prize money. Prizes: 1st: £75.00, 2nd: £55.00, 3rd: £40.00, 4th: £25.00, 5th: £20.00, 6th: £20.00, Total: £235.00. Entry Fee = £20.00 (Pre-Entry £20.00) Members of the Romsey show will be charged £17 to enter. In the event of 30 or more starters the class will be split and two sets of prize money awarded. Horses (or ponies in pony competitions) may compete in one section only. Open to horses and ponies 4 years old and over, conformation & manners will be taken into consideration; horses/ponies will not be stripped. Special rosette to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the S.S.A. carrying their current Championship Points Cards. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. The highest placed coloured exhibit (who had not already qualified) receives a Special Rosette and qualifies for the Side Saddle Final at the CHAPS Championship Show. Open to any type of exhibit. Riders must be 16 or over. Riders/Owners need not be a member or their exhibit registered with CHAPS at the time of qualification, but in order to compete at the Championships, the Rider/Owner must be a showing member and their horse/pony registered with CHAPS before entering the final.
