BRITISH SHOW HORSE ASSOCIATION R. I. H. S. QUALIFIERS & AMATEUR CLASSES Royal International Horse Show: 21st – 26th July 2020 . Classes 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 - 12 are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show and are held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward. Owners, Riders, In-Hand Handlers & Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. The three highest placed prize winners in each Open Affiliated class will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme classes at the National Championship Show September 2020. The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes. DAY TICKETS Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per Rider, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-Hand, Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated classes only, but will NOT allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form or apply online on the BSHA website. SPORT HORSE BREEDING (GB) QUALIFIERS Royal International Horse Show: 21st – 26th July 2020. Classes 20 – 25 and 28 are qualifying classes for the RIHS. the two highest placed horses in the Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight and Small classes will qualify to enter at the RIHS. No horse lower than second will qualify. In the Working Hunter class, the three highest placed horses will qualify. No horse lower than third will qualify. If there is a Working Hunter Championship made up of the first and second prize winners from the light and heavyweight working hunter classes respectively, these four horses will qualify for RIHS unless they have already done so. Where there is only one amateur ridden hunter class the two highest placed smalls, the two highest placed lightweights, the two highest placed middleweights and the two highest placed heavyweights will qualify. When there are two classes, in the lightweight section, the two highest placed smalls and the two highest placed lightweights will qualify and in the heavyweight section the two highest placed middleweights and the two highest placed heavyweights will qualify. Judges must place all horses to determine qualifiers. Only horses on the Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be members of the Society. Day Ticket = £36 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 2 shows in the year at £36 per show – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB (GB) office within 14 days. TSR (The Showing Register) QUALIFIERS This show is a qualifier for the 2020 TSR Showing Finals. Classes 1, 4, 5, 9, 13, 14 are TSR qualifiers. 1st and 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. MEMBERSHIP OF TSR IS NOT REQUIRED IN ORDER TO QUALIFY. BRITISH SKEWBALD & PIEBALD ASSOCIATION RIHS QUALIFIERS Royal International Horse Show: 21st – 26th July 2020. Classes 15 - 18 are affiliated to the British Skewbald and Piebald Association and are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead Tuesday 21st July 2020. Classes will be judged under BSPA rules. Download from www.bspaonline.com. All horses/ponies must be registered and all owners/riders BSPA members prior to the show. Membership cards must be carried in the ring by competitor and produced as required for inspection or signature. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Spurs may not be worn in any pony class. Ponies 153cms or under (Shetlands exempt) must possess a current a current JMB certificate prior to entry into the RIHS. All stallions must be graded and licensed by BSPA or hold a BSPA Showing Permit (Contact BSPA for stallion permit showing information) for BSPA and have a BSPA stallion ID card and wear a BSPA stallion ID Disc. No rider under 14 may exhibit a stallion in any class. Qualifications: 1st place and the next unqualified competitor standing 2nd or 3rd will qualify. No competitor may qualify from lower than third place. Highest placed Amateur and highest placed Junior in each class qualify for Amateur and Junior Supreme Championship finals to be held at BSPA World of Colour Championship Show. All Champion and Reserve Champion winners qualify for the BSPA Star Championships at WCC. CLASS 18 BSPA PLAITED PIEBALD / SKEWBALD PONY RIHS – Stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, not exceeding 153cms. RIHS BSPA CHAMPIONSHIP – 1st and 2nd from classes 15 - 18 to compete. INTERNATIONAL OUTDOOR ARENA B CLASS 19 UNAFFILIATED NOVICE RIDDEN HUNTER – Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, not having won a first price of £60 or a total of £200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any affiliated Ridden Hunter Classes at home or abroad before 1st January in the current year, excepting all prize money won as a 4 year old. This does not apply to Novice Working Hunter Classes. The Judge will NOT ride exhibits in this class. Classes 20 – 25 are held under the 2020 rules of the Sport Horse Breeding of (GB). All horses must be registered with SHB(GB) & owners & riders need to be current members. Classes 20-25 are RIHS Qualifiers, horses need to be on the 2020 Show Hunter Registration or Day Ticket = £35 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 2 show’s in the year – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days. The two highest placed horses qualify for the RIHS. CLASS 22 SHB (GB) HEAVYWEIGHT HUNTER CLASS RIHS – Mare or gelding 4 years old or over, capable of carrying 89kgs (14 stone). The two highest placed horses qualify for the RIHS. RIHS HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP – 1st and 2nd from classes 20 – 22 to compete. CLASS 23 SHB (GB) SMALL HUNTER RIHS – Mare or gelding 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms. The two highest placed horses qualify for the RIHS. CLASS 24 SHB (GB) AMATEUR LIGHTWEIGHT HUNTER RIHS – Mare or gelding 4 years old or over, capable of carrying 79.5kgs (12 stone 7lbs) and under. Small Hunter to be included in this
category. The two highest placed Small Hunters and the two highest placed Lightweights will qualify for the RIHS. CLASS 25 SHB (GB) AMATEUR HEAVYWEIGHT HUNTER RIHS – Mare or gelding 4 years old or over, capable of carrying over 79.5kgs (12 stone 7lbs). Middleweight Hunter to be included in this category. The two highest placed Middleweights and the two highest placed Heavyweights will qualify for the RIHS. AMATEUR HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP – 1st and 2nd from classes 24 – 25 to compete. CLASS 26 UNAFFILIATED NOVICE WORKING HUNTER – Stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail), mare or gelding 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm. Not to have won a total of £200, excluding championship prize money, (or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB(GB) affiliated Working Hunter Class, or more than 5 BE points or 200 BS points, at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year. Fences in Novice Working Hunter classes should have a minimum height of 0.85m (2’9”) and a maximum height of 1.00m (3’3 A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). CLASS 27 UNAFFLIATED RESTRICTED WORKING HUNTER – Stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail), mare or gelding 4 years old or over not to have won a total of £400, excluding championship prize money, (or equivalent values) in prize money in any Working Hunter class, or more than 25 BE points or 400 BS points at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year. Maximum height of fences 3’6” (1.07m). A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). CLASS 28 SHB (GB) RIHS OPEN WORKING HUNTER - Stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail), mare or gelding four years old and over exceeding 148cm (14.2hh approx.) to be judged in accordance with the rules herein set out. Grade A Showjumpers and Advanced Event horses are not eligible to compete in these Classes. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. Fences to be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 in number and a maximum height of 1.14m (3ft 9ins) at the discretion of the Judges. No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden under side-saddle, in which case, in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only). A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). A skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the current approved BSI or European Standard must be worn by ALL competitors in the jumping phase of Working Hunter Classes. No hind boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in the actual class. PLEASE NOTE No lunging on indoor / outdoor arenas and ride only where directed. No schooling of horses in showing arenas / collecting areas
Rules & Regulations 1. All bookings of the centre, once confirmed, are liable to a 50% cancellation fee should they be moved or cancelled. Cancellation of a full day without 3 months written notice, or a part day without a weeks’ notice will make the total fee due. 2. The College EC reserve the right to cancel, add to or amend any of the Competitions as they see fit due to weather conditions etc. 3. The ability to tie up horses to the outside of boxes is a privilege not a right. This practice WILL BE BANNED if horses continue to be left unattended or are allowed to dig up the lorry park surface. No horses to be tied to buildings or fencing. No haynets outside horseboxes 4. Once an entry has been made, withdrawal will entail forfeiture of that fee. Fees will be liable immediately for any telephone / fax or e-mailed entry made after the closing date. Non declaration does not remove the requirement to pay the entry fee due 5. All unaffiliated events are run under the guidance of affiliated rules-BSJA, BD, or BE. 6. The decision of the judge is final. 7. Neither The College Equestrian Centre, not any of its representative or staff shall be held liable for any accident, injury or damage or loss whatsoever, howsoever caused to any person animal or property at any time. 8. Please dispose of your litter thoughtfully in bins provided. 9. Please do not muck out into car parks. 10. Please ask organizers before riding on grass. Any lunging is by prior permission only and is never permitted indoors or outdoors. You are politely requested to pick up all droppings on arenas after your animal. Any damage to any property owned or hired or rented by or from The College EC apart from normal wear and tear will be paid for at cost at the time of damage 11. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas and prohibited around the stable block or in arenas. 12. All dogs must be kept on leads. Dogs are not permitted on the veranda. If dog owners do not clean up their own dog’s mess, this privilege will be removed. No dogs in arenas. 13. All horse and ponies must only move through areas shared with pedestrians at walk. 14. No competitor / rider shall allow a stallion for which they are responsible as owner, lessee, authorised agent or rider to compete or be prepared to compete, in any competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure competitors, officials or other members of the public are not put at risk of injury 15. The College EC reserves the right to refuse entry to class and show ground. 16. Children must be under adult supervision at all times 17. Correctly secured Skull Caps / Riding Hats Nos. PAS015, (BS) EN1384-20, BSEN 1384, VGI, ASTMF1163 (2004) with SEI mark, SNELL E2001, Australian & New Zealand All AS/NZS 3838 1998 MUST be worn by riders at all times when mounted. 18. The College EC reserves the right to restrict prizes to one for every five entries, in accordance with BSJA Rule 76 (6) 19. Formal objections must be made within 30 minutes of event, accompanied by a deposit of £25, forfeited if the objection is overruled. Constructive criticism is welcomed. 20. Entry constitutes an agreement to be bound by and abide by these Rules. 21. We required payment in advance for each clinic (this minimizes our administration costs and therefore clinic prices). No space will be held without appropriate fee Payment will only be refunded on production of a vet/Doctor’s certificate, providing reasonable notice is given, and the place can be re- allocated. If a clinic place cannot be re-allocated, payment in full must be made. Total fee can be transferred (once) to another clinic. No monies will be refunded for cancellations within 48 hrs. of event. Every effort will be made to offer your place if a waiting list exists 22. Clinic times will be available 48 hours before the clinic by calling 01234 708400. 23. Please make cheques payable to “The College EC”, or call with credit card details 24. Only riders, who have paid to enter a competition/clinic on that day may ride on the property owned by The College EC, unless permission is previously requested. The competition number worn must be applicable to the rider/horse combination that has paid an entry fee.
MAIN ROUTES & DIRECTIONS TO THE COLLEGE From the North Directions in Keysoe M1 - Exit J15 for Northampton (A508) this road becomes the From the North (Kimbolton / Pertenhall) A45, go past Wellingborough & Rushden, at the A45/A6 One mile past the Chequers Public house, (at the top of the hill) Roundabout take 3rd exit, next roundabout turn right onto B645 turn right into Church road, we are 3/4 mile on the left. to Kimbolton. Just after Kimbolton turn right on to B660. From the South (Bedford / Bolnhurst) Keysoe is 5 miles One mile past Kymbrook School / Keysoe Row junction, turn left A1 - Turn off right at Buckden roundabout, past Grafham Water into Church Road, we are 3/4 mile on the left to Great Staughton. Turn right (B645 Kimbolton) After Stonely turn left (B660 Pertenhall & Keysoe) Keysoe is 5 miles. From the South M1 - Exit J13 for Bedford (A421), continue past Bedford on the bypass to exit A4280 Bedford / Renhold / Barford. Take the A4280 for Bedford, next roundabout, right (by Rogers) over 3 roundabouts, at 3rd (Pheasant Pub) turn right (B660) Keysoe is 8 miles A1 - Turn off left at second St Neots Exit (B645) Take the B645 Through Great Staughton & Stonely. Just before Kimbolton turn left onto B660 (Pertenhall & Keysoe), Keysoe is 5 miles From the West M6 then A14 turn off at Kettering for A6 (Rushden / Bedford), this is the 4th Kettering exit.
