EC is committed to: • Upholding the welfare of horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities. • Requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect, and the compassion that they deserve, and that they never be subjected to mistreatment. • Ensuring that owners, trainers, exhibitors and their agents use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose. • Providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort and safety as a matter of standard operating procedures. • Continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare. • Requiring owner, trainers and exhibitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization’s rules and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competitions. • Reviewing, revising and developing competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of horses. The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a reasonable person, informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and exhibition practices, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive nor inhumane. Championship and Reserve Championships will be awarded for the Technical and Freestyle Divisions as listed. Competitors will ride two tests per division as no Championship can be determined by the results of one test. The rider with the highest combined score from the two tests will be declared Champion. The rider with the second highest combined score will be declared Reserve Champion. Refer to the 2018 Equine Canada Rules for Dressage, Section E. How to Enter the Canadian and Ontario Championships The Provincial/Ontario Championship is the base level of Year End Championships. The Canadian Championships are available to be added on to the entry for those who have qualified. Kawartha Fall Class 10 First 2 First 2 $25 Class ribbons and Classic the score counts toward Fall Classic Championship. For the FEI levels, the above concept remains the same. For the Ontario Championship you ride Fri and Sat. For the Canadian Championship you ride Sunday and your test from Friday counts as the second test at the level. The organizing committee reserves the right to refuse entries for any reason. CLOSING DATE The closing date for entries is August 15, 2018. If you courier and request a signature, entry will be delayed by no less than 1 day so this is not a recommended method. CATEGORIES Those wishing to compete in two categories (i.e. AA and Open) will pay two entry fees, but will ride one test; the score will count for both categories at a discount of $50 per division or $25 per class If there are fewer than six (6) entries per category at any level the organizing committee has the option of holding only the open category or combining any two (2) categories together. Combining Please refer to the chart before the class list to see how championships can be combined. The Canadian Championships National, Eastern Region can be added to the Ontario Championships. The Canadian National Youth can be added to the Canadian Championships. The Kawartha Fall Classic Champions can be added to any other Provincial or National Championship. The additional cost to combine when classes are not ridden is primarily to cover the cost of awards, just in case you were wondering. Please contact the secretary if you are unsure of how to add championships. Presentations Will be mounted for the Canadian and Provincial Championships. The schedule will be posted during the competition. Kawartha Fall Kawartha Fall Classic Championships will be per the chart detailed previously. If competitors wish to use Classic their Ontario or Canadian Championship scores toward these championships they pay $25 per test for this Championships purpose . These Championships will be determined on Sunday. Where there is only one competitor at the level as Championship will not be declared. CANCELLATIONS Cancellations will only be accepted with a Veterinarian/Doctor’s Certificate. Refunds of 100% of class entry and stabling fees (no admin fee refund), will be allowed up until the closing date (Aug 15, 2018). Refunds of 50% of class entry fees, less administration fee, will be made after the closing date and before the start of the show. There will be no refunds on stabling fees after the closing date. Scratches after 12 noon on Aug 23/18 will lose the total entry and stabling fee. KLDA ODC 2018
HORS CONCOURS Hors Concours entries will be accepted in non-championship classes. PASSPORTS/EC All Canadian entries in the Gold and Silver competitions are required to hold an EC Horse Recording and Horse Recording have paid the EC Horse Recording annual Activation Fee to compete, or I fowned by a temporary sport license holder, a Temporary Horse Registration form must be purchased. Foreign entries must sign an affidavit. NUMBERS All competition and non-showing horses must wear a number at all times in the schooling and exercise areas and in the competition rings. Please return your number at the end of the competition. NON-SHOWING There is a $50.00/day charge for non-showing horses. Non-showing horses are subject to all the rules HORSES pertaining to competing horses. Non-showing horse entries may be declined if stabling space is not available. RIDING TIMES Riding times will be available at www.klda.ca or www.foxvillage.com no later than August 25th, 2018. The times will change frequently after initial posting as riders make adjustments. It is the riders responsibility to check for current times every competition day. QUERIES Questions concerning rules, scoring or entries may be made to the Steward for discussion with the Organizing Committee. Protests must be made in writing within 48 hours of the completion of the class and accompanied by a deposit of $100.00, cash or certified cheque. See EC Rules STABLING The cost per stall is $200.00 for the duration of the competition, Thursday 2 pm through Sunday 6 pm. While we try to accommodate all requests and work primarily on a first come basis, stabling assignment is at the discretion of the organizer. Stalls will not be bedded, please bring your own shavings or shavings will be available at $9.00 per bag. Please bring your own hay, feed and buckets. Wednesday night or earlier arrival by special request, $75.00 extra per day or part thereof. HELMETS EC Rules, Section E, Dressage ARTICLE E 4.0 SAFETY HEADGEAR: All riders, regardless of age or level or competition, must wear ASTM/SEI or BSI/BS EN approved protective headgear at all times when mounted at any EC-sanctioned Dressage competition at the event location. Note: At the tack check which follows the test, the steward may ask the rider to dismount so that the helmet may be inspected for the ASTM/SEI or BSI/BS EN label. DRUG TESTING EC/FEI Drug and Medications rules apply at these shows. Any horse entered in any class at any competition may, while on the competition grounds, be selected for equine medication control testing. INSURANCE All owners and competitors are personally responsible for damages to third parties caused by themselves, their employees, their agents or their horses. Third party insurance providing full coverage for participation in equestrian events is necessary. RIBBONS Ribbons will be presented to 6th place as well as division champion and reserve champion as noted. CLASSES The organizing committee reserves the right to combine or split classes at its discretion. FREESTYLE MUSIC Must be submitted when competitor package is picked up and on USB drive. PARKING Vehicles must be parked in designated areas only. There will be no parking on the roads and the barn areas at any time. After unloading, do not park in the stable area. ADDITIONAL RULES SPECIFIC TO THE CANADIAN NATIONAL AND THE ONTARIO DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRIES/CLASSES HOW TO QUALIFY Complete and submit the “Statement of Qualifying Scores” form with your entry. Please save paper, do FOR NOT send copies of the tests unless specifically requested. CHAMPIONSHIP Training through Fourth Level: Scores must be EITHER a) two posted scores from two different judges from CLASSES two different Gold dressage competitions OR b) three posted scores from no less than 2 different judges at one Gold dressage competition. All scores should be a minimum of 53% for the Ontario Championship and 60% for the Canadian Championship. FEI Level: Two scores (minimum 53% for the Ontario Championship and 60% for the Canadian Championship) at the relevant level must be submitted. Freestyles: Please refer to the 2016 Rules of Equine Canada, Section E (Dressage). All scores must be obtained since September 1, 2015. WHIPS MUST NOT BE CARRIED IN ANY CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS TESTS MUST NOT BE CALLED IN ANY CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS “Per Article A801, every entry at an EC-sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participating in any capacity in EC-sanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition.
