RULES AND REGULATIONS TO AVOID MISUNDERSTANDING, COMPETITORS ARE REQUESTED TO READ THESE REGULATIONS CAREFULLY ALL HORSES IN THE GRAND PARADE ARE TO ENTER AND LEAVE THE RING THROUGH THE EXERCISE YARD OPENING CLOSE TO THE LOADING RAMP ENTRY FEES 1. Entry to all horse event will be by ticket only. You purchase the ticket to the value of the entry fee from Ring Office and hand ticket to the Steward in the ring you are entering. 2. Entry Fees may be refunded only in special circumstances and you must see the Deputy Ring Steward to gain a refund. PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY 3. Champions, Reserve Champions and Supreme Champions will receive their money at the RING OFFICE after the GRAND PARADE on Thursday or Friday. 4. Any Champion, Reserve Champion or Supreme Champion not appearing in the Grand Parade will forfeit their prize money. 5. All other prize money will be paid from the Ring Office daily. 6. Please ensure you have your Winner’s and Grand Parade card to collect prize money. 7. When there is only one competitor in any class the prize money will be the 2nd place prize money. 8. All Championship money will be paid after appearance in the Grand Parade on Thursday 13 or Friday 14 at 3pm approx. 9. Judges may withhold Champion or First Prize Ribbons from any Exhibit they consider not of sufficient quality. 10. It is recommended that Performance Cards be completed by the Stewards in the Ring Office rather than the Judge or Steward of the ring during the continuance of the show. GST INFORMATION FOR PRIZE MONEY PAYOUT 11. If you are NOT exhibiting as a Business entity, please ensure you complete the ‘Statement by Supplier’ form and return with your entry form. 12. If you are exhibiting as a Business entity, please provide your ABN and indicated if you are registered for GST or not on your entry form. DISPUTES 13. If a dispute arises as to the age of a competitor, the only proof of age accepted will be a birth certificate. 14. No dispute to be considered whilst the event is in progress. Protests are to be lodged in writing AFTER the event has completed and must be handed to the Ring Office, accompanied by a fee of $50 within half an hour of completion of the event. Dispute Committee: M Carlson, J Warren, J Bryant, D Brown (any three (3) to act). THE DECISION OF DISPUTE COMMITTEE SHALL BE FINAL GENERAL 15. The Show is conducted under the Rules and Regulations of the Gympie District Show Society Inc. and the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies. 16. Horses and Ponies must be measured by Official Measuring Steward where height is stipulated. All horses must be measured and produce certificate signed by Official Measuring Steward. MEASURING STEWARD will be available for measuring 7am to 9am Thursday 13 and Friday 14 May 2020 in the Marshalling exercise yard. 17. ALL COLTS AND STALLIONS, two years old and over must be led in a bit. 18. The handler/rider of a colt or stallion must have attained the age of 18 years on the day of the show. 19. All entries must be registered with the applicable Breed or Registered Societies or recorded in accordance with the rules of the respective breed societies. Registration papers are required. NO REGISTRATION, NO ENTRY. 20. Competitors must wear CORRECT ATTIRE. Approved riding helmets AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards, ARB HS 2012 provided they are SAI Global marked and riding boots are essential. In Novelty events, suitable casual gear, plus approved riding helmet and riding boots are essential. Jeans and T shirts are not considered suitable attire. 21. No ring shall be required to wait for any competitor who may be competing in another ring. 22. An Exhibitor shall ensure that horse and competitor are entered and shown only in the correct class. 23. If in the opinion of the Judge, any horse or pony is entered in the wrong class, the Judge shall have the power to classify it in the correct class.
24. The age of a horse shall be calculated from 1st August in the year in which it is foaled. 25. Stewards reserve the right to alter any event in the Schedule. 26. Stewards reserve the right to refuse any entry without reason. 27. A Judge or Steward may direct any person or horse from the competition for bad conduct of one or both. 28. The Committee reserves the right to swab any horse and swabbing maybe done during Championship Events. Offenders will be banned. 29. An exhibit is ineligible to compete if the competitor/exhibitor is a member of the Judge’s family, if the horse has been owned or leased by the Judge or a member of his/her family within the last three months, if the competitor has received tuition from the Judge within the last three months, or if the competitor has been employed by the Judge within the last three months. 30. A Judge shall not visit the horse stables, nor the owners, nor inspect or discuss any horse entered in the show prior to or during the judging of the relevant section. 31. No Exhibitor can camp inside the racetrack fence. 32. HORSE HEALTH DECLARATIONS for bio security reasons must be completed and handed in at the Ring Office upon arrival at Showgrounds. Forms are available at the Ring Office or from the Show Society’s website www.gympieshow.com.au 33. All electrical equipment and leads must be tested and tagged to comply with safety regulations. LEDS 34. All LED classes will be completed before the Ridden classes are judged. 35. All 1st place winners from all LED events are eligible for Grand Champion Stallion, Mare or Gelding of the Show. 36. SUPREME LED shall be judged after all LED classes are completed. HACKS 37. Competitors are advised that riders in Hack, Galloway and Pony classes can only ride one horse in each event. 38. LOCAL classes are for horses owned and ridden by residents of the Gympie Regional Council area. All horses entered in Local Classes must be the property of the Exhibitor for three calendar months prior to the month of the Gympie Show, and must be stabled or paddocked in the area for that time. All riders in Local Classes must be resident within the Gympie Regional Council area for the three calendar months prior to the month of the Show. 39. A MAIDEN is a horse that has not won a First Prize in a similar contest at an Agricultural Show. If by the time of Judging, Stewards are not notified by the Exhibitor of a mistake in this regard, the competitor shall be disqualified from receiving prize money or dealt with in any way at the Stewards discretion. 40. A NOVICE is a horse or pony that has never won a Championship in a similar contest at an Agricultural Show. 41. Galloway hacks are over 14 hands and not exceeding 15 hands. 42. Show Pony Hack and Show Pony Hunter Hack over 12.2 hands and not exceeding 14 hands may be ridden by a juvenile or adult. 43. Small Show Pony Hacks and Show Hunter Pony Hacks, 12.2 hands and under are to be ridden by a juvenile under 17 years of age. 44. Horses may be entered in Hack Classes or Hunter Hack Classes by not in both. 45. Open Hacks may not compete in Show Hunter Classes. 46. Stallions are not permitted in Hack Classes. MINIS 47. Miniature and Small Horse Section run under The Independent Miniature Horse Society (IMHR) rules unless otherwise stated. 48. SUPREME LED shall be judged after all LED classes are completed.
SHOW HUNTERS 49. Stallions are ineligible. 50. Show Hunters have more substance than the modern fine Hack/Pony but still maintain quality. 51. They are expected to move freely at all paces. 52. They may at any time be expected to gallop for the Judge. 53. The Turnout for Show Hunters is more subdued than that of usual Saddle Classes. 54. There should be no coloured brow bands on Show Hunters, or multi coloured hair ribbons or flowers on the child rider. 55. Junior Riders should not wear boots. Tweed Coats are optional. 56. Show Hunters cannot compete in any Local, Maiden, or Novice Classes, or in any Open Hack Classes in Rings 1 and 2. TEAM PENNING 57. There are 21 head of cattle used in the arena, with 7 different coloured collars – (3 cattle having the same colour). Cattle will be changed immediately following the 7th penning run unless the decision has been made with remaining team(s) and Committee that the competition can be completed with the existing cattle. 58. The arena is set up into two sections. White line is drawn separating cattle and riders. This will be used as a cattle line. 59. The announcer will call the Team into the arena. When the Judge is ready, he/she will give the team the designated colour or number. Once nose of first horse of a team member crosses cattle line – at that point – time will then start. 60. Team will have a total of 2 minutes in which the event is to be completed with 3 or less cattle penned. A Warning signal will be sounded when team has only 30 seconds remaining. 61. No more than 5 head of cattle shall be allowed at any time over the penning side of line or you will be disqualified. 62. When the claimed cattle are over the cattle line, NO riders are to go back across the line, or you will be disqualified. 63. At no stage are horse and rider permitted to enter the pen to remove any incorrect cattle or when claiming time. The line of the gate will be determined by the Judge on the day and be explained to the competitors before commencement of the competition. All horses must be under control when they reach the line of the gate. 64. Once you have claimed cattle penned, there must be a team member blocking the gateway with hand raised to signal time. Time will be recorded when the judge is satisfied team has control over penned stock. No time shall be recorded unless all incorrect cattle have returned to cattle side of the line. 65. If all claimed cattle have been penned and 1 or more breaks free, time will still be recorded with remaining penned cattle. The position of break-away cattle will be disregarded. 66. No blocking of cattle in pen by any team member(s) is allowed whilst other cattle are still being sought, this action will result in disqualification. 67. If a run is stopped by the judge, clocks must be stopped and a time recorded. A decision will be made at the end of the competition if a re-run is to be awarded. A re-run will not be given if there are placing’s with better times. Judge’s decision is final. 68. No tie downs or rings permitted. 69. Rough handling of stock will result in disqualification at the discretion of the judge. 70. If a rider has fallen from horse in competition it will be the Judge’s discretion whether the rider is in danger if so, TEAM will be disqualified. 71. If there is a re-run decision given, that team will take their run at the end of the penning competition. 72. Disputes in Judges decision MUST be handled through correct channels i.e. a fee of $20 up front and complaint must be lodged at Secretary’s box during competition. Judges may only be approached or questioned by a single team member in direct relation to their own team’s run. If this is breeched that team will receive a fine of $50 and will be disqualified from that competition and any further competition with loss of series points. 73. 3 runs per team 74. LIMIT OF 100 TEAMS
SHOW JUMPING 75. Any rider wishing to use a class at the show for ‘Inter-school Qualifier’ may do so by speaking with the Judge prior to the class starting. 76. CHAMPION RIDER COMPETITION a. For the Rider gaining the most points in the Jumping Competition at the 2020 Gympie Show. b. Competition Leader must wear the Sash during each event and the Sash must be passed on to each Successive Leader as events are completed. c. Points will be allocated as follows: 1st Place 5 Points 2nd Place 4 Points rd 3 Place 3 Points 4th Place 2 Points 5th Place 1 Point d. Eventual winner will receive a Championship Arm Rosette and $100 cash – prizemoney donated by Sandy Lashford, Life Member Gympie District Show Society. 77. All show jumping events, with the exception, of the Beginners Trail, will be conducted under EFA Rules 78. A Junior Rider may compete in both junior and open competition providing they are members of EFA a. Junior – Qld EFA Rules b. Young Riders – Qld EFA Rules 79. Beginners and Young Riders must compete in the correct dress, i.e shirt, tie, jodhpurs, coat, approved riding helmet and boots. T shirts and open necked shirts are not permitted. 80. Should entries be excessive, the jumping steward reserves the right to limit competitors to a set number of horses in each event. The number of horses will be determined by the final number of entries. 81. A draw will be conducted before each event and the draw will be displayed on the Judges Box. Horses must jump in the order of the draw. 82. A horse may compete in only two height class events on Thursday and one height class event on Friday. Six Bar event is exempt from this rule. 83. A horse may compete in only ONE of the Championship classes. DOGS 84. Dogs come on the Showgrounds as the OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY and must be securely chained inside vehicles or if under vehicles on a short lead so that they cannot dive out and bite anyone. The Show Society has appointed two (2) Safety Officers who will call on all dog owners prior to the commencement of the Show and will explain your responsibility to you.
SHOW JUMPING Wednesday 12 May 2021 COMMENCES AT 1.30PM (approx.) ALL COMPETITORS PLEASE REFER TO RULES AND REGULATIONS Nominations for Classes 21000 and 21001 will be taken at the Ring Office from 12pm 1. Unofficial Event – Equivalent to D Grade and under, to be competed over two rounds with time not a deciding factor. 2. Competitors jumping clear in the first round go into the Jump Off over a slightly raised and shortened course. 3. Time will not be taken in either round. 4. Coats need not be worn. Gene Barker Lodge is the closest to the arena, with 46 stables available. Fitzhenry Lodge is the 2nd block with 20 stables and 20 yards available. Ted Fisher Lodge is the 3rd block with 20 stables and 19 yards available. Please note: stables and yards are priced separately. Stabling is at a premium and owners can be assured that their valuable horses will be as safe as it is possible. Bedding is supplied free of charge by the Society and there is ample watering points. All care is taken, but no responsibility accepted or implied. Stabling is charged by the day, Wednesday to Saturday. Gene Barker Lodge • 46 Stables • Mainly for hacks, leds and stallions but if unavailable, will be allotted to other block of stables. • $12 per stable per show night. Fitzhenry Family and Ted Fisher Lodge • 20 Stables and 20 yards each lodge available • Mainly for showjumpers but if Gene Barker Lodge unavailable, hacks will be allotted to these stables. • $12 per stable and $8 per yard per show day. Ramsey Road Horse Competitor Entrance Stables • 28 Stalls available – some have steel gates and others have slip rails. • These are situated on the right and left of the Ramsey Road gates. • Toilets are provided. • $8 per stall per show night. Temporary/Steel Yards • Limited number available • $8 per yard per show day All camping for horse competitors is controlled by the stable steward, your camping number will be placed on ground or by sign on running rails as to where you can park.
• RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Show days include Wednesday 12, Thursday 13, Friday 14 and Saturday 15 May 2021. 2. Please remember these stables will be allocated in the fairest way possible. 3. When making an application please state breed and height of horse and whether they are hacks, ponies, stallions, showjumpers, etc. Stable application available on Gympie Show website, www.gympieshow.com.au under application tab. 4. Visiting Horses are given preference for stables. Stables will not be allocated to Gympie Regional Council residents until all visiting horses are allotted. Gympie Regional Council Residents cannot occupy the stables before Wednesday 12 May 2021. 5. All cancellations must be made by Wednesday 5 May 2021. The Stable Steward must be notified as soon as possible so that the location can be resold. Refunds will be sent out from 1 June 2021. 6. No application will be accepted unless accompanied by the appropriate fees, therefore no allotment of stables until all fees are paid. NO PAYMENT, NO STABLE, NO EXCEPTION. 7. ARMBANDS: (Exhibitor Passes are valid for the duration of the show) a. Can be purchased from office Wednesday 12 May or pay at the Ramsay Road Competitor gate on entry. 8. All boxes must be cleaned by 10am and place manure at the back of Fitzhenry stable in manure slide. 9. Please ensure that all areas of stabling are kept clean of all rubbish. 10. No electric or Solar fences are allowed on the grounds during the period of the show and the Society’s Workplace Health and Safety Officer are authorised to cut and remove same without notice. 11. All electrical equipment and leads must be tested and tagged to comply with safety regulations. Please ensure your power leads are covered to comply with safety regulations. 12. There are ample watering points. 13. With regards to own portable yards/panels – please contact the stabling steward. 14. Camping and parking of horse trucks is under the control of the camping steward who is also the stable steward, place camping permit on dashboard of trucks or hang on float/caravan/tent in a plastic sleeve (in case of wet weather). Total fire ban for the duration of our show week commencing Saturday 8 May to Sunday 16 May 2021. 15. Please ensure your area is cleaned prior to departure, that your stable is cleaned before leaving.
