Entries Close 12 noon on Thursday 22nd August IMPORTANT NOTES CLASSES – If sufficient entries are present classes will be split further by age or breed, young stock classes may also be added. DAS reserve the right to remove or merge classes. ADMISSION TICKETS - All persons over the age of 16 years wishing to enter the Showground must be in possession of a valid ticket/wristband or purchase one on the entry gate. Exhibitors are provided with an allowance of tickets with their entries: 2 X tickets will be issued for the first horse/pony entered, 1 X additional ticket for each subsequent horse/pony entered Additional tickets can be ordered on the entry form or at www.dorsetcountyshow.co.uk. Children under 16 years of age are admitted free and may be asked for proof of age. EQUINE PASSPORTS - Exhibitors are reminded that horses/ponies should travel with their current equine passport. DEFRA officials will be on site and inspections may be made. EQUINE INFLUENZA - Horses must have been vaccinated to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination and then 2nd vaccination between 21 – 92 days later), followed by the first booster (150 – 215 days) and all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose. Horses must have been vaccinated within 6 months before the show but not less than 7 days of arriving at the show. Foals: In-foal mares that have already had vaccinations of primary Equine Influenza course should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born. Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course. We urge all owners to adhere to strict biosecurity protocols at all times. Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessments by the attending veterinarians. PLEASE NOTE THAT NEITHER VACCINATION CERTIFICATES NOR PASSPORTS SHOULD BE SENT TO THE SHOW OFFICE PRIOR TO THE EVENT. HOWEVER, RANDOM CHECKS WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON THE SHOWGROUND DURING THE SHOW PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR - Any person riding a horse or pony (whether as a competitor or judge) anywhere on the showground must wear a hard hat of a standard approved by their appropriate governing body. Headgear must be worn with the chin strap correctly and securely fastened at all times. VETERINARY, FARRIER & FIRST AID - Vet in attendance: Dorset Equine, Whitcombe Racing Stables, Dorchester 01305 262295. Farrier in attendance: Phillip Thomas, 07711 034064. Whitehorse Medical and an Honorary Doctor will be in attendance from 07:00 on Show day. Ponies must be registered in any of the British Riding Pony studbook sections or the Ridden Register; the GSB; the AHSB; the AASB, or registered in the main body of their respective M&M Stud Book. Part breds are not eligible unless overstamped into one of the British Riding Pony studbook sections. or the Ridden Register. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern, August 2022. The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. The Owner’s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit. 4
British Show Horse Association Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Owners, Riders, In-Hand Handlers & Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. DAY TICKETS Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per Rider, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-Hand, Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated classes only, but will NOT allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form, or apply online on the BSHA website. Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. Equifest Dorset Equine Show 2021 is affiliated to Equifest 2022 taking place at the East of England Showground in August 2022. Classes are noted throughout the schedule, the two highest placed exhibits in these classes not already qualified will qualify for the relevant Equifest OPEN classes. CHAPS This Show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse and Pony Society (UK) Affiliation No. 22001. Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However, in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. Qualifying shows held on or after the 31st July 2021 will count as qualifiers for the 2022 CHAPS Championship Show. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members' Handbook; or visit www.chapsuk.com for rulings. Only Skewbalds/Piebalds may compete these classes. All stallions. 4 years old and over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All stallions must wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring without exception. Senior Showing and Dressage League SSADL Home Produced Members Qualifiers are OPEN to both Members and Non-Members of SSADL No Spurs, No Galloping, No Wearing of Face/Body Jewellery. Foals are NOT permitted SSADL Classes For In-Hand Classes- Minimum age of handler = 11 years old. First Ridden ponies/riders will be asked after the initial walk round to come into the centre of the ring. First Ridden Competitors will only canter in their individual shows. Lead Rein Riders: If a strip section is required a lead rein rider MUST stay mounted. STALLIONS- Either for In Hand or Ridden classes, Competitors Must be 16 years of age or over. Competitors cannot enter the ring once the command of trot has been given. The same rider/handler/pony/horse combination must stay the same from qualifier to grand final. ALL COMPETITORS SHOULD AQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH SSADL RULES BEFORE ENTERING SSADL Rulebook can be found at www.seniorshowinganddressage.co.uk Qualification Cards: The 1st to 2nd from each AGE section will qualify for the SSADL/SPILLERS Members Open challenge. ( If a competitor has already qualified the qualification card can be passed down no lower the 5th place). The two highest placed Mountain and Moorland ponies within a class will receive the SSADL Members Mountain and Moorland Challenge Qualification Cards. The two highest placed Lead Rein/First Ridden ponies within a class will receive the SSADL/HEADSTART MEDIA Members Lead Rein/First Ridden Challenge Qualification Cards. 5
MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND M&M Judge: Mrs J Upton, Dorset, ; Welsh Judge: Mrs J Wyatt, Dorset All ponies to be registered in the Approved Section of the Stud Book of their respective breeds. Name of breed and registration number must be put on the entry form. Broodmares must be four year olds and over. Foals accompanying mares must be at least three weeks old on the day of the Show. Three year old fillies with foals are NOT eligible. Stallions and colts, three year olds and over must have DEFRA or appropriate Breed Society Stallion licences (except Shetlands). All entire males aged 2 years and over must display a stallion disc. Children under 14 yrs old may not show colts (excluding foals) or entire males in in-hand classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 years or under in in-hand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring. Foals are NOT permitted SSADL Classes For In-Hand Classes- Minimum age of handler = 11 years old. First Ridden ponies/riders will be asked after the initial walk round to come into the centre of the ring. First Ridden Competitors will only canter in their individual shows. Lead Rein Riders: If a strip section is required a lead rein rider MUST stay mounted. STALLIONS- Either for In Hand or Ridden classes, Competitors Must be 16 years of age or over. Competitors cannot enter the ring once the command of trot has been given. The same rider/handler/pony/horse combination must stay the same from qualifier to grand final. SHOW HUNTER REGISTER All horses being shown in Ridden Qualifying Classes for the Royal International Horse Show are required to be entered on the Society’s Basic Identity Record or Stud Book and the annual Show Hunter Register. Registrations are renewable each year and are not restricted by way of breeding etc. The current Show Hunter registration fee is £42.00 and owners and riders must be Full Members of the Society. DAY TICKET £36 (per day ticket). A maximum of 2 day tickets may be purchased per year and this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 2 shows in the year - it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration/ overstamp for those shows. Class 51 WORKING HUNTER – HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIER Entries in this class are subject to an additional charge of £15 per entry on top of the standard entry fee This competition is for Working Hunters, any weight, mares, geldings or stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old or over, exceeding 148cm, to be ridden. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. All Riders, Owners and Producers must be Members of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association. Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences. The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This class will be judged in two parts. Part One (Jumping) will be judged first, without a jump-off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). This class will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk. This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of this class is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. PHASE 1 Jumping to be judged: 8 rustic jumps 3 foot (90cm) to 3 foot 3 inches (1 metre) with a maximum spread of 95 centimeters) The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round: 10 points to be deducted for a knock down. 15 points to be deducted for a refusal. 20 points for second refusal. Elimination for third refusal or fall or Error of Course. PHASE 2 Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the judge’s discretion, horses might be asked to do a ‘show’ following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class) Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Show to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 30% for Show, manners and suitability to be retrained. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. Class 75 EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIPS OPEN, EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIPS OPEN QUALIFYING CLASS Run under SSA Rules defined in the current Members’ Handbook. Open to SSA Members and Non-Members. Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior places and SSA Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under 14 on 1st January of the current year. A rosette in memory of The Late Mr R Philpot is offered to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. Class 76 CLASSICAL LADIES SIDE SADDLE, Open to SSA Adult Members and Non-members, aged 18 and over on January 1st of the current year, riding side saddle, on horses exceeding 148cm (14.2hh). To be judged 25% conformation and action, 25% manners & way of going, 25% rider, and 25% turnout of horse & rider, by a SHBGB, BSHA or SSA Panel Judge. Judges may request a short show, but will not ride exhibits; horses will not be stripped. Traditional habits must be worn. Fancy Dress and Period Costumes NOT permitted. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. The highest placed horse/rider combination qualifies for the Final to be held at the National Side Saddle Show. In the event of previous qualification, this may be passed down to fourth place. Special rosettes are offered by Mrs T Mitchell & Mr L Mitchell to the winner and if the winner has already qualified, a second rosette is awarded with the Qualification Card. Qualifying combinations are required to become Full Members of the SSA 21 days prior to the National Side Saddle Show or as soon as possible if qualified after that date to be eligible to compete at the Final. Combinations qualifying between one National Side Saddle Show and the next may carry forward the qualification, for that year only. The highest placed Riding Horse, Hack (not ex 160cm), Cob or Hunter, Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over, ridden by a SSA Adult Member qualifies for the current year’s BSHA Championship Show Ladies Show Horse Championship and if already qualified the ticket will go to the next highest placed horse down to 5th place. Combinations qualifying after the current year’s BSHA Championship Show may carry forward the qualification, to the following year. SSA Members who qualify for The Ladies Show Horse Championship, will not be required to join the BSHA in order to compete in any Side Saddle class at the BSHA National Championship Show. If the BSHA Championship Show entries have closed at the time of qualification, competitors will not be charged a late entry fee for the Championship. Class 77 SIDE SADDLE COSTUME CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE, The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays.
