CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME A great big Wanaka welcome to everyone considering being involved in our 2020 Wanaka show, what an exciting event we have coming up for you! As Board Chair I must take this opportunity to thank Jane, Bronwyn and Fe for their tireless work in pulling everything together and ticking the boxes necessary to run what now is a significant event in the Southern Lakes calendar. “Diversity of Farming” is the 2020 theme, watch this space as we showcase some exciting businesses which have been developed in our area, this along with a “World Hereford Congress” event and also a NZ Merino Breeders exhibition, all our usual entertainment and competitions, I feel you would all be foolish not to mark March 13th and 14th on your calendar as “In Wanaka”!! Our Board has developed it’s first Strategic Plan, through this document we hope to widen our objectives as a Society, one of our goals being to strengthen membership, if you are reading this, perhaps take the opportunity to become a member, our website will have options available, a strong membership drives a strong Society. A big thanks to my fellow board members, you have willingly given many voluntary hours to work on strengthening our Society, also, all our staff, members, volunteers, exhibitors and competitors, you are all integral in what makes our event what it is. A big thanks to all our sponsors, please try and support all those that are part of our schedule and programme documents, without these generous people our show would struggle financially, a special mention must also go to our Strategic Partner “Farmlands”, we have had a lengthy relationship with them and appreciate their support, for many years they have been located by the sheep yards, in 2020 they have decided to reposition down to the main entrance (gate 2) on Pembroke Park, we wish them all the best with their shift and hope everyone will visit them at their new area. Enough rambling, pencil it in, tell your friends, come and enjoy this festive event, roll on March, we all can’t wait!!!!! Grant Ruddenklau Upper Clutha A&P Society Board Chair.
