The Champion will qualify for the Grand Final to be held on Sunday 11th September 2016 at the Victoria Food Carriage Driving Extravaganza Show, Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre, Greylake, Nr Bridgewater, Somerset TA7 9BP. In the event that the champion has already qualified, then the reserve champion to qualify. If the reserve has also qualified, the rosette to be awarded to the champion. The highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and eligible for (c) Single non-hackney type (excluding purebred Registered Welsh) - over 13.2hh; (d) Single non-hackney type (excluding purebred Registered Welsh) - 13.2hh and under; (h) Single Registered Mountain & Moorland (excluding purebred Registered Welsh); (i) Pairs and Tandems (open, any height); disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2016 Semi-Finals at Driving Addington. The Championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals. 130 10.45 am PRIVATE DRIVING CLASS (SINGLES, PAIRS AND TANDEMS) For ponies four years old and over and 13.2hh and under, to a suitable vehicle (commercial vehicles and hackney show wagons not permitted). (Entry fee includes an £12.00 Horse of the Year Show contribution) The qualifier for the Sankey Property Maintenance Ltd. Harness Horse and Pony of the Year Championship at the Horse of the Year Show 2016 will be awarded to the highest placed turnout in the Private Driving Championship down to 6th place, disregarding those already qualified. The judges will take into consideration the fact that the exhibits are properly kept and produced having regard to their particular trade, and the manner in which they are presented, decorated and turned out. Riders must be 15 years and over, and must wear a safety/Kite Mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. All entries MUST be registered with Weatherbys in their General Stud Book and MUST be registered with the RoR. Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this series. This class is open to thoroughbreds that have raced in GB and have qualified for this Championship during the 2015/2016 Season. This class will be run under the rules of RoR, and split into two sections. Class 194: Horses whose last race was under National Hunt or point-to-point race rules (this includes NH Bumper races). Class 198: Horses whose last race was on the Flat and under Flat rules. There will be two ride judges and two conformation judges for each section. The top six from each section will go forward to the International Arena for final judging. Horses must have qualified for this Championship at one of the RoR Tattersalls Thoroughbred Show Classes. Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to qualify both owner and rider/exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier Card IN THE RING for signing by the judge.
