Nursery – Special event – Boogie Woogie Day – 20.07.2020 Nursery children had their special event "Boogie Woogie day" on 20.07.2020. The basic idea of the day was to refine listening skills and to develop awareness of whole body movement to rhythmic beats. The children dressed up like rock stars with musical instruments and danced to different beats .Indeed it was a rollicking experience for the tiny tots. Nursery – Field Trip – Disney Land Virtual Tour– 13.07.2020 Nursery children had their Virtual Field Trip to Disneyland on 13.07.2020. Children enjoyed watching the different places in Disneyland, They were excited to see the parades, dance and shows of various Disney characters. They also enjoyed watching different rides and the light shows. On the whole children had a virtual first hand experience of Disneyland and Disney characters.
Jr.KG – Field Trip – Visit to a Fire Station– 14.07.2020 Jr KG children visited a fire station on 14.7.2020 and the objective of the visit was to make them understand the importance of a fireman as a community helper in our neighbourhood. The fire officer explained to the tiny tots on how they work during an emergency. The virtual trip also gave them a lively experience. It helped them to enhance their visual learning and crisis handling abilities. They enjoyed a lot by travelling virtually and had a great day in the fire station.
Sr.KG – Field Trip – Field trip to Fitness Centre – 15.07.2020 The children of Sr.Kg were taken for a virtual field trip to a fitness Centre on 15th July 2020. Students were explained about the different exercising equipment and their working pattern to do the exercise. Children understood the benefits of going to fitness Centre. They were enthusiastic to know more about the equipment's in the fitness Centre. They learnt that exercise keeps their body and mind healthy and fit .At the end of the session, students promised to follow a fitness routine in their everyday life.
Kindergarten – Special Event Show & Tell 21st & 22nd July 2020 “Show & tell” encourages each child to express and explore their speaking skills. It is the first opportunity to public speaking on a thematic topic using props/charts/toys. This activity enhances children‟s language skills, memory, vocabulary and instills confidence. Jr.KG presented show &Tell on the theme “Community Connect “on Tuesday (21.07.2020). SrKG on “Our Body System” on Wednesday (22.07.2020) The tiny tots of JrKG, dressed up like doctors, farmers, firefighters, astronaut, shopkeeper, gardener enthralled the teachers and parents. Sr KG children spoke on various body parts-both external and internal and captivated all of us. The props and explanation of the internal organs like lungs, heart, kidneys and external parts like eyes senses, face were out of the box. Kudos children!!!! We wholeheartedly thank all the parents for guiding and supporting their children and making the first virtual Show and Tell a tremendous success.

INTRA COMPETITION FOR NURSERY & KG Sán Academy encourages healthy competitions among children from Kindergarten. Exposing children early teaches them real-life lessons about winning and losing Healthy competition help children with many benefits--encourages positive feelings in and out of school, develops important life skills like hard work, empathy and expands their comfort zone. The first intra competition for the academic year 2020-2021 was held on 10.07.2020(Friday) for the children of Nursery & Kindergarten. Due to the covid-19 pandemic the fancy dress competition was held virtually. The objective of the competition was to blend learning with fun. The theme for Nursery was “Disney Characters”, JrKG presented “ Community Connect” and Sr.KG “Traditional Costume around the world ”The children prepared well and presented their topic with courage and confidence. We thank all the parents for encouraging and guiding their children and making the online event a grand success.

NATIONAL POSTAL WORKERS DAY – 1.7.2020 Students of classes 3 and 4 got to know more about Postal Worker on this day and took a unique opportunity to say 'thank you' not only to postmen but also to all delivery personnel, as online shopping has become a lifeline for many of us. They explained the different types of postal services and recognized that the workers engaged in postal services bear the overhead sun and lashing rain to deliver letters and couriers on time through the year. Not only harsh weather, they have to carry weight as well. While giving clear details about why Postal Day is celebrated, they even appreciated the active role they played in transporting COVID-19 testing kits across the country. A fitting tribute indeed!
WORLD DOCTORS DAY – 1.7.2020 Keeping the pandemic COVID – 19 in mind, this year the theme was 'Lessen the mortality of COVID-19' which is dedicated to the hard work of doctors amid the pandemic. Classes 1, 2 and 3 explained „How Doctors Help Community‟ and „Why Doctors are Important‟ by thanking physicians and doctors for their dedicated services to patients. Speeches and PowerPoint Presentation by classes 6 to 10 honored the contribution and perseverance of the doctors in the worst of times. The young children recognized the doctors for their selfless service and acts by personalizing their messages and creating meaningful posters applauding their altruistic deeds.
NATIONAL ZOONOSES DAY - 6.7.2020 As this day is celebrated to commemorate Louis Pasteur successfully administering the first vaccine against Rabies virus, a zoonotic disease, the assembly raised awareness for the risk of zoonotic diseases. Students of class 5 gave a brief biography of the great French biologist, microbiologist and chemist renowned for his discoveries of the principles of vaccination, microbial fermentation and pasteurization. They explained why Zoonoses Day was celebrated and explained about the vaccination and gave a few tips on how to avoid zoonotic diseases.
WORLD CHOCOLATE DAY – 7.7.2020 Do children need a push to celebrate World Chocolate Day? No, they would be overjoyed to enjoy the occasion by indulging in their favourite snack. While we treat ourselves with the most popular chocolate bars, plain and simple, students from classes 1, 2 and 3 enlightened their audience with „Types of Chocolate and its importance‟ and listed out the „Countries Famous for Chocolates‟. Speeches on Chocolate Day and a few facts about chocolates by students of classes 6, 7 and 8 made one‟s mouth water by conveying that Chocolate can enhance and help to create the most luxurious desserts and can even be enjoyed and indulged on its own. As this day most definitely gives us a special day to cosset ourselves with the rich, creamy glory that is chocolate, students of some classes went online to pay a special tribute to mankind‟s greatest culinary invention. At the end of the day one did not require any coercing to pamper themselves with ample proportions of their favourite chocolates.

WORLD POPULATION DAY – 11.7.2020 Reading or hearing about the COVID-19 crisis and how it has taken a staggering toll on people, communities and economies everywhere, and also about social distancing, children are aware about what a sparse population or a dense population is. The introduction of topic was done by the respective class teachers and the students with their speeches and PowerPoint Presentation raised awareness of global population issues. Starting from the reasons for the rapid growth in the world population, the students moved on to explain how the demand for essential commodities and natural resources also hiked proportionally. They also embarked on the utilization of our resources wisely and advocated that proper planning and identifying the key field for improvement is essential for achieving sustainable development. NATIONAL PAPER BAG DAY – 12.7.2020 Paper bags are an environment-friendly alternative to the harmful plastic bags and "Paper Bag Day" was the best way to bring home the fact. Students from Class 1 onwards were made aware of what paper is and they explained in their own words the need for paper bag usage. The students from the middle school aimed to spread awareness about using paper bags instead of plastic to help reduce plastic waste that take thousands of years to decompose. They demonstrated how paper bags can be made of natural and biodegradable materials. They explained to the audience that these are made from renewable and raw materials that are recyclable and can be reused. The initiative taken by the students must be commended as they campaigned to adopt eco-friendly paper bags which would play an important role in preserving our planet.

WORLD EMOJI DAY – 17.7.2020 Emoji is the fastest growing language in history. Communication in the Internet Age now goes far beyond pressing send on a simple text message. So first the students gave an introduction to what an emoji is. Later they moved on to explain how the usage of these ubiquitous graphic icons helps us to express our feelings in a shortened manner and can replace explicit text. Being youngsters, they could articulate passionately about how they may play a vital role in the way we communicate today. INTERNATIONAL NELSON MANDELA DAY – 18.07.2020 Idols or inspirations encourage us to strive harder. While we follow in the footsteps of great people, we create our own identity in the process. However, to shape a naïve and a young mind it is important to follow famous people who inspire with not just their achievements but also their way of living. Celebrating Nelson Mandela Day brought an insight to his life and character to the students of class 5. His individuality and personality was neatly presented by them
KARGIL DIWAS DAY – 26.07.2020 “The soldier, above all others, prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.” Special Assemblies were held from Class 5 upwards to pay tribute to our heroes from „The Kargil War‟. They talked about our Kargil Heroes and helped us remember the success of Operation Vijay in the 1999 conflict. NATIONAL PARENTS DAY – 26.07.2020 The students of San Academy Kamakoti Nagar gave speeches on „How Special Parents are to Kids‟ and „What is Family Made of‟ on National Parents‟ Day. While the primary classes supported their speeches by story-telling, students from Classes 6 to 10 honored their parents with poetry. The assemblies celebrated the important role the parents play in everyone‟s lives as they protect, teach, provide, and serve as role models. Parents play a vital role in the lives of children as they look to them for guidance and mirror their behavior and learn to be a core part of our communities. It was indeed a proud moment for the parents when the children praised them for bringing them up as independent thinking individuals. We may celebrate Father‟s Day and Mother‟s Day but the students displayed great pleasure in commending their parents as a whole for all the things they are doing for them. WORLD NATURE CONESERVATION DAY – 28.7.2020 Students from classes 3 to 5 observed World Nature Conservation Day and used the occasion to the best of their ability to increase awareness about the best practices to protect our natural resources. The explained what the day was about and why the need to celebrate this day arose. They elucidated that Earth is supplied a limited amount of assets that we all rely upon each day like water, air, soil and trees. It takes many years for the nature to replenish the depleted resources and thus believed that we have to take stringent steps to „Conserve Nature for Future Generations‟. Informative assembly!
WORLD HEPATITIS DAY – 28.07.2020 World Hepatitis Day is observed annually to raise awareness about the disease. Though the students of class 4 may not have been aware of the disease, its cause and effect, and theme that focuses on the hepatitis elimination goals, they garnered a lot of appreciation in doing the spade work to gather information and present it to the audience. They had even given the pointers on „How Hepatitis can be controlled‟.
INTERNATIONAL TIGERS DAY – 29.07.2020 Students of classes 1, 2 and 3 used the special assembly to raise awareness about tiger conservation, promote the protection of natural habitat of tigers and support tiger conservation issues. They touched on the topics of „Importance of Tiger‟ and „Schemes put forth to Save Tigers‟. Through Speeches on International Tiger Day and the PPT presentations students of Classes 6 to 10 strongly conveyed the need to protect tigers and their natural habitats. They pointed out that we should support tiger conservation issues and to raise awareness around us so that more people are inclined to come forward to offer their help. The students talked about the threats that are driving tigers close to extinction, which include poaching, conflict with humans, and habitat loss. The day ended with the message “Their survival is in our hands”.
VIRTUAL CLUB ACTIVITY & INTRA COMPETITION Through Art & Craft, children learn to value and appreciate artifacts and images across cultures and times. They learn to act and think like designers and artists, working intelligently and creatively. Introduction of this month‟s theme was done by the respective club teachers. Students were either given live demo or shown various videos with intricate designs pertaining to their topic. They were taught the basic techniques and were allowed to practice under the teacher‟s guidance. Origami is said to develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and mental concentration. Keeping this in mind the theme for class 1 was „Paper Flowers‟ and for class 2 „Paper Birds‟. The students prepared the same with the materials available at home. Small children are attracted to cartoons and have their favourite characters in many of their personal belongings. Students of Class 3 were given an opportunity to draw their favourite cartoon character. Class 4 displayed their skills in sponge painting by expressing themselves neatly. Children enjoy reading books and what better way to motivate them than making their own corner book marks. This quick and fun activity got the students of Class 5 hooked and the result was innovative. Classes 6 and 7 showcased their drawing and painting skills by making scenery (Class 7 used different objects to create their painting). Diverse ideas were seen in the „Best out of waste‟ theme of Class 8. Classes 9 and 10 exhibited objects made with elaborate designs in their newspaper art.

CATCH THEM YOUNG STARS OF THE MONTH Saloni.U – I D - Singing Saloni‟s parents speak only mother tongue (Oriya) at home. She is equally attracted to the Tamil language. So to make it better, parents gave exposure to South Indian Music for 6 months where she could venture with different cadre of kids and experience proper Tamil slang. Her parents believe Saloni can concentrate better at solving problems, understand language structures and perform multitasking if she is given proper guidance. Currently she is familiar in four languages; i.e. English, Odia, Tamil and Hindi.
