Cleveland Indians Youth Baseball Camp July 13-17 - 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Highland Hts. Community Park Ages 6-12 Learn to play ‘The Indians Way’ in a safe, fun environment! Led by former Major Leaguer and Cleveland native Matt Kata, Indians Youth Baseball camps are the ultimate developmental experience for youth baseball and softball players in Northeast Ohio. Whether your child is just getting introduced to the game of baseball or has been playing for a while, Indians Youth Baseball Camps will develop and improve upon the same basic fundamentals that Indians players work on each and every day - hitting, throwing, fielding, and base-running. Throughout the week, the qualified and professional coaching staff emphasizes the importance of keeping the focus on the process and the things that we can control: our Attitude, Concentration, and Effort, and encourages each participant to “A-C-E the Day”! All campers receive and Indians t-shirt and hat, camp workbook and a voucher for two tickets to see the Indians play on Indians Youth Baseball Camp Reunion Day. Boys Baseball Boys Baseball Major Division Ages 11 & 12: WHICH TEAM IS RIGHT FOR Highland Hts. Resident Fee $80; Non-Resident Fee $95 MY CHILD….. Players will start breaking down the mechanics of hitting and defensive play even more than in the earlier Boys Baseball Mighty Mite Division divisions. Players are introduced to the game of baseball in a simple and enjoyable fashion. Children will have the opportunity to learn their way from home plate around all the base paths. The season consists of games that last three innings. The players will be hitting the ball from a tee and defending their positions. All players will receive a sportsmanship award at the conclusion of the season. Each player will receive a team hat and shirt. Teams will be assembled by managers by the end of April. The camp is located at the Highland Hts. Community Park in the Park Barn Pavilion, located across the drive from the pool. This location provides plenty of outdoor space for activities as well as a large indoor facility in the event of inclement weather. Weekly sessions and costs are Highland Hts. Frank is a student at Cleveland State University, studying pre-physical therapy. He played varsity tennis at Lakewood High School , and was a walk-on alternate at CSU. He has taught tennis at Force Sports for the last 3 years. Kirstie played varsity tennis at Brunswick High School and at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. She taught tennis in North Carolina for the past several years, and she brings that experience of coaching players of all ages to Force Sports this summer! City Hall REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, May 29, 2020 COURSE DESCRIPTIONS: Beginner- 9:00-10:00 (All Ages): This class is for players new to the game of tennis. Court assignments are based on age as well as ability. Emphasis is placed on good coordination and an introduction to the forehand, backhand and volley. Intermediate- 10:00-11:00 (All Ages): This class is for kids who know the basic skills and rules of tennis. Empha- sis will be placed on controlling groundstrokes, introducing the transition game as well as working on continen- tal grip skills. Players will also learn how to hit serves and be introduced to doubles formation and strategy. Advanced Intermediate- 11:00-12:00 (All Ages): This class is for new and returning students who choose to play tennis as a recreational summer sport. The class will be based with a fast-paced drill setting and will have occa- sional feeding as well as directed play. Skills that will be taught include and introduction to topspin groundstrokes, aggressive net play as well sound stroke production. Advanced- 12:00-1:00 (All Ages): This class is for Varsity Level High School Players, and/or local and sanctioned tournament players. The class features live ball competitive and cooperative drills and focuses on enabling play- ers to work off each other in a non-ball feeding format. Examples of skills that will be covered include poaching in doubles, serve and volley, hitting on the rise, etc. 11

Park Activities Community Park Pavilion Rental Information Park pavilions may be reserved by residents, businesses, and schools located in the City of Highland Hts. Proof of residency is required at the time of completing the contract. Only one rental is permitted per family per year. The pavilions are not available during the Day Camp Program and Recreation Department authorized events. No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the park. See rental agreement form online at www.highlandhts.com for a complete listing of rules and guidelines. Upper Pavilion (by the playground) and Lower Pavilion (by the pool): $100.00 deposit is required in advance from which $50.00 will be refunded to you after the pavilion has been inspected and found to be in good condition. Park Barn Pavilion (located across from the pool): $150.00 deposit is required in advance from which $50.00 will be refunded to you after the pavilion has been inspected and found to be in good condition. For an additional $40.00 paid at the time you pay your deposit, you may have 10 of your pavilion guests enjoy themselves at our City Pool during our regular pool hours on the day of your reservation. You will not be able to purchase this Pavilion Swim Pass at the pool. Extra passes are available at the rate of $4.00 per person and valid for the date of your reservation only.
