It is a type of Mind-Body Medicine that combines movement, meditation and regulation of breathing and sounds to enhance the flow of energy in the body. It is a complementary practice that works very well with, but not replace, our Western allopathic medical system. The practice of Qigong is also thought to improve blood circulation and enhance immune function. There are many different styles of Qigong, but they are all based on similar principals: a relaxed posture, a straight spine, breathing from the diaphragm, easy, fluid movements and a peaceful awareness. Regular practice of Qigong is thought to help clear toxins from the body, improve energy and reduce stress.
