Fairmount is a member of More Light Presbyterians, which means that we are one of over 230 churches and thousands of individuals in the country who are joined together to serve, support and advocate with and for the LGBTQIA+ community. More Light Presbyterians’ Mission Statement says: “Following the risen Christ, and seeking to make the Church a true community of hospitality, the mission of More Light Presbyterians is to work for the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) people in the life, ministry and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society.” You may have seen this logo around our church. Here’s more about what it means: “MLP’s logo reflects our mission and incorporates the communion elements of bread and wine, as well as rainbow colors evocative of stained glass church windows. These elements express the hospitality of Christ, and of the welcoming church movement, and the theology and practice of the open table. We are called together as many grains that form one bread. We share one cup.” Fairmount is proud to be a part of this community! For more information you can visit their website: www.mlp.org, or talk to one of our pastors.
