CLARE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH NEWS MARCH 25, 2022 OUR WORSHIP TIME 10 A.M. SUNDAY SCHOOL AT 9 A.M. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS TIMES ARE ON NEXT PAGE Our church Camp date for 2022 is June 12-17th OUR NEXT CAMP PLANNING MEETING WILL BE APRIL 4 AT 7 P.M. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are in need of people who are willing to transport the elderly to Dr. appointments. Senior Services are NOT providing any transportation at this time, which has put a strain on our volunteers. We are willing to reimburse mileage if necessary. Please call the office 10-2 Monday-Thursday, 989-539-2064 for more information. This will not be a burden, it will be a blessing. This is a testimony from one of our drivers. Every time I take these ladies to an appointment, I think of what it would be like to be them and totally dependent on someone to take me to a doctor's appointment. It must be very hard to have to depend on someone to be willing and dependable to get you where you need to be on time. And these ladies' stories are often so sad, with children who live a far away or children who they never see for whatever reason. I can't even imagine.... I always come away knowing in a fresh way just how blessed I am to have a loving family, the ability to get around independently, and a warm house to come home to. Cindy Luther, His Helping Hands of Clare County

Given by: Dr. Dave & Colleen Bremer and Judy Bailey SCRIPTURE AND MUSIC FOR SUNDAY MARCH 27 The Parable of the Lost Sheep 15 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” 3 Then Jesus told them this parable: Luke 15:11-32 NIV The Parable of the Lost Son 11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. 17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate. 25 “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27 ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’ 28 “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ 31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’” JOYFUL, JOYFUL Vs. 1 Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day! Vs. 2 All Thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heaven reflect Thy rays Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea, chanting bird and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in Thee. Vs. 3 Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blessed, Well-spring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest! Thou our Father, Christ our Brother, all who live in love are Thine; Teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine. Vs. 4 Mortals, join the mighty chorus, which the morning stars began; love di- vine is reigning o’er us, binding All within its span. Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife, Joyful music leads us sunward in the triumph song of life.
Verse 1 I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard My people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send? Refrain Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart. Verse 2 I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have born my peoples pain. I have wept for love of them, They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak My word to them, Whom shall I send? Refrain Verse 3 I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them, My hand will save Finest bread I will provide, Till their hearts be satisfied. I will give My life to them, Whom shall I send? Refrain
