2022 LETTER OF INTRODUCTION Dear Adventurer Leaders, In the time of Nehemiah – things were looking rough for God’s people. Nehemiah 1:3 says – “Things are not going well for those who returned to the province of Judah. They are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.” This event, of course, follows years of stints of poor spiritual leadership by the Kings of Israel and Judah. The people knew their ruin had come from a long line of unfaithfulness to God and they were in distress – probably wondering if God was still with them at all. The truth – although it didn’t feel like it - He was! Things were about to change for God’s people. The Spirit of God came onto Nehemiah and encouraged him to rebuild Jerusalem for the God’s glory – Nehemiah was to become a “Kingdom Builder.” If you follow the story through – with the blessing of God - Nehemiah brought the people together and, with them, rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem in just 52 days. This was incredible! As the text says - “When our enemies and the surrounding nations heard about it, they were frightened and humiliated. They realised this work had been done with the help of our God.” (Nehemiah 6:15). God’s work wasn’t quite finished yet though. Nehemiah 7:66 records - “a total of 42,360 people who returned to Judah.” And – after God had done the marvellous work of rebuilding the wall - Nehemiah 8-10 - shows these people recommitting their lives to God. WOW! If that’s not a story of revival and restoration I don’t know what is! While we’re not quite experiencing the trouble Nehemiah and his people experienced, we can say that 2020 – and 2021 were tough years for us! And we may be tempted to ask if God has forgotten us? So - has He? Not at all! In fact, after two years of not being able to meet and operate as we regularly do 2022 is our year to start fresh and, like Nehemiah, to commit to God as “Kingdom Builders.” The Commitment to be a Kingdom builder is no small commitment at all. It’s giving our hearts and lives to Jesus and allowing Him to use us. We might experience some challenges on the way – but the result is more than worth it! As the people in Nehemiah’s time were brought back to God – people in our time will experience the same! As an Adventurer leader in 2022 we believe God is going to use you as a Kingdom Builder and that through the work you do – God will shape many little Kingdom Builders – the Adventurers. The work you will do in 2022 is – as we always say – eternal in value. No meeting, no preparation, no late night or early morning will go astray – it’s all for the glory of God, and it’s all eternal in value!! Thank you so much for your work and your commitment! 2022 ADVENTURER EVENTS Special Conference-Sponsored Adventurer Dates for 2022 Adventurer Open House February 05 Adventurer Open House is an opportunity for Clubs to open their doors to the community to experience Adventurers for an afternoon. We appreciate that some of the clubs already may do this, however, we would love to have a Sydney-wide Open House night/ Expo every year, that becomes known as a day where Adventurer Clubs enable community children to learn about Adventurers and possibly join the local Club. Adventurer Leadership Award (ALA) February 26 & May 13-15 The Adventurer Leadership Award (ALA) will be tailored leadership training for Adventurer leaders and potential leaders. The ALA will run alongside the Pathfinder PLA and PSA programs in joint leadership weekends. This Award will cover: - Administration, programming and leadership - Creativity, collecting resources, engaging activities, nature awareness, and spirituality. - Camping, marching, awards and a variety of skills. Adventurer Big Day April 03 Adventurer Big Day is a day of worship and activities. This event will begin with an engaging worship service and march in the morning. The afternoon will be a time of activities and games. Clubs will be able to operate a Food Stall and fundraise. Please remember: No professional food vans will be allowed on site. All proceeds must return to the Local Adventurer Club. Adventurer Service Day June 19 Adventurer Service Day will replace the Drug Free Walk. Instead, a regional service activity will be organised, where all the clubs in that region have the opportunity of being involved in service to their community. If you have any contacts or ideas regarding this activity, please contact your regional District Director. Adventurer Rally October 08 The Adventurer Rally is a time of collective worship, and celebration of all that has happend in Adventurers this year. Adventurer Camporee November 10-13 Camporee is a weekend where all the Adventurer Clubs and families go camping together. It is filled with worships, activities and Awards. A special Camporee patch is given out.
2022 ADVENTURER ADVISORY The Greater Sydney Conference has formed an Adventurer Advisory in response to the growth of Adventurers in this Conference. The purpose of the Advisory is to: • Provide support to the local Adventurer Clubs • Promote Adventurer ministry in this Conference • Organise special Conference Adventurer activities • Develop current Adventurer resources The Advisory is made up of our Adventurer District Directors (ADDs). They are available to consult with local Clubs. They support and review club work in preparation for investitures. Allocated districts are outlined on the next page. Honorary Adventurer District Directors will assist ADD’s when required. Up to 3 local Club Directors from different regions are elected at the first Adventurer Leadership Training program to form part of this Advisory for the elected year.

2022 ADVENTURER INFO Adventurer Age Please do not start a child in Little Lamb UNTIL they have turned 4 years. This will make it easier for the transition from Adventurers to Pathfinders. Adventurer Uniform A uniform is worn at all Adventurer events. It gives recognition to the members of the Adventurer club. There are two types listed below: 1. Dress Uniform: This uniform provides identification and acknowledgement of classes completed, events attended and stars, diamonds or awards that they have achieved. The uniform is made up of the following things: 1. Navy blue skirt, skort, trousers, track pants or shorts with white top, green SPD scarf and Adventurer cap. 2. Navy blue sash which can be purchased from the Sydney Adventist Book Centre (ABC) in both adult and child sizes. 3. Sleeve Club emblem should be positioned 5cm from the top of the right sleeve. The sleeve world emblem should be positioned 5cm from the top of the left sleeve. 4. Stars, Diamonds and Awards should be placed on the sash starting from the front and event patches on the back. The Dress uniform can be worn at club meetings, church services, Conference events and any other occasion as requested. 2. Field Uniform: 1. Club t-shirt or polo shirt should include the club name and the Adventurer badge or the word ‘Adventurer(s)’. 2. Skorts, track pants or shorts.

2022 WORKING WITH CHILDREN Working With Children Check A Working With Children Check is a requirement for people who work or volunteer in child- related work. It involves a national criminal history check and a review of findings of workplace misconduct. The result of a Working With Children Check is either a clearance to work with children for five years, or a bar against working with children. Cleared applicants are subject to ongoing monitoring and relevant new records may lead to the clearance being revoked. The local Church is responsible to make sure that ONLY approved persons can work with children - this includes Adventurers, Pathfinders, Sabbath School, and other child-related ministries. Every church will have a person who is responsible for keeping records of each person’s registration number. Steps to obtain a registration number: • Be at least 18 years of age • Type into web search ‘https://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/working-with-children/ working-with-children-check’ • Click on the new government site • Click on the ‘start here’ box and answer the questions • You will receive an email from ‘working with children’ that will include an APP number • Take this document to your local NSW Motor and Maritime Registry. Take proof of identification with you (such as a drivers license or passport etc.) The church cannot have any adult working with children, Adventurers, or Pathfinders until they have a WWCC number. This includes parents and family members at campouts. AdSafe Training The Seventh Day Adventist Church also requires that ALL volunteers complete their online AdSafe Code of Conduct, and Safer Churches Awareness Training.
