Castle Stuart’s goal is to add to the rich fabric of golf in the Scottish Highlands – a fabric made rich by Royal Dornoch, Nairn, Brora, and many other fine Scottish golf clubs. Cruden Bay Golf Club Cruden Bay is an inspirational golf course, regarded by some as quirky, and considered by others as a masterpiece. Either way, this is a thrilling place to play golf because the designers used the original lie of the land to fantastic effect. Rugged links land, pebble-dashed with sand dunes as high as three-story buildings. Elevated tees cut high into the dunes, humped and hollowed fairways bumping their way along to punchbowl greens, nestling in attractive dells, and all set against the backdrop of the steely North Sea. This traditional Scottish links course was originally designed by Tom Morris and Archie Simpson, and opened in 1899. It is claimed that golf was played in the village of Cruden Bay as early as 1791 on its’ current site before being commissioned at the end of the 19th Century. Cruden Bay offers an internationally famous golfing experience – old fashioned links golf at its’ best. Par: 70 Length: 6,262 yds (Men’s white tees) Course Architect: Tom Morris, Archie Simpson Founded: 1899 Cart Availability: Unavailable Website: For more information... click here
Royal Aberdeen Golf Club - Balgownie Course This stunning championship course on the east coast of Scotland was founded in 1780, making Royal Aberdeen the sixth oldest golf club in the world. A wonderful challenge to all golfers... yet another links that is steeped in history. Royal Aberdeen Golf Club was founded in 1780 as “The Society of Golfers at Aberdeen” and became the Aberdeen Golf Club in 1815. Until 1888 members played on the Queen’s Links close to the city before moving across the River Don to the links at Balgownie. The Course was originally designed by the Simpson Brothers, Archie and Robert of Carnoustie, and later re-bunkered and lengthened by James Braid. Hawtree & Company are now engaged as the Club’s architects to ensure the classic links keeps pace with the modern game.
