4/19/2021 Constant Contact The metaphor of the pilgrimage has long been a part of the story of faith. In many religions, including Christianity, practitioners have left the comforts of home to travel, sometimes to a holy shrine, other times to destination unknown. Jesus was an itinerant preacher who’s journey to Jerusalem was a pilgrimage, and after his death the disciples embarked on adventures of their own to Spain, India, and everywhere in between. But wherever the journey leads it is meant to shapes us and leads us to discover our authentic selves. Even if we can’t travel right now, we can still delve deeper and discover more about our spiritual selves. With that in mind our latest Sermon Series is entitled “Pilgrim’s Progress” after John Bunyan’s theological fiction of the same name published in 1678 and considered by some scholars to be the first ever English novel. Last week Rev. June shared a Lesson for Life telling the tale of her journey to MCC Toronto using the story of Moses and the Exodus. For this week’s Lesson for Life Rev. Jeff will be sharing photos and reflections from the Camino de Santiago, an 800km pilgrimage across Northern Spain to the burial place of St. James, one of the 12 disciples. Then at 7pm rather than the usual Inspiration Service Check-In Rev. Jeff will share additional photos and stories from his 2016 sabbatical to Iceland, France, Spain, Scotland, England, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam as he traveled around the world in 80s. Next week Rev. Deana Dudley will offer up one of her many adventures. CLICK HERE TO JOIN US FOR THIS SERVICE Sunday Service Musical Guest Dale Miller is our Offertory Performer this Sunday!
