2021 TERM 1, Week 6 05/03/2021 FROM THE OVAL From the Headmaster Dear Parents, Caregivers and members of the community, A huge thank you to our parents who supported, guided and led many moments on last week’s camps, from Year One to Eight. From day trips to six days with our Year Eights, your effort, time and positive energy was appreciated. In regard to Covid 19 Alert level 2 as per our communications, our programmes are generally running as normal with heightened attention to hygiene and physical distancing where possible. Cancellations to certain weekly sport match competitions and Fixtures occurs at Level 2, along with large crowd gatherings with other school groups. We will communicate with you on Sunday regarding the Government's direction to Alert Level status and what that may mean in regards to events calendared for Week 7. Year 5/6 & 7/8 Swimming Sports Coffee Cart St Paul’s Parents Association are providing a coffee cart at our Year 7/8 Swimming Sports on Tuesday 9th March and Year 5/6 Swimming Sports on Wednesday 10th March, at St Paul’s. Day in the life of a Year 8 Southwell boy - from a diary entry, February 1966 "Today was a very busy day for the lunches. We collected over five pounds. That's the disadvantage of doing lunches, you never have time to eat your own. Mr Autridge tried us out during cricket today, to see if we might be promoted. I have a good chance."

News from Nursee Reminder that Yr8 HPV vaccinations will still take place on May 3rd - please ensure that they bring their PE shirt on this day. Due to Covid 19 vaccination programmes the Yr 7 Boostrix vaccinations will be given later in the year. Please note that you are able to take your child to your GP to get their Boostrix done earlier if you wish. News from the Southwell Uniform Shop New e-Form: We now have an eform available for you to order uniform for your child, as an alterna- tive to sending an email or writing a note. The e-Form can be found on the portal under Available e- Forms in Quicklinks - https://portal.southwell.school.nz Once completed the form will be sent to the Uniform shop, and your child can be fitted with the items requested. A reminder that students cannot purchase uniform from the shop without a parent's permission, we hope for the e-Form to be a quick and easy method for this. Kicks off with Trivia Breakfast in the dining room before sport Catch a round of golf in the afternoon Round it off with drinks in the Homestead before heading to the Chiefs Game. We have had a fantastic response already, definitely don’t miss this one. Email reunion@southwell.school.nz for more info or to register. From the Library The library subscribes to these two magazines. Feel free to pop in and browse through them, or take them home (despite what the sticker says!) We also have a growing selection of Well Being books for issuing.
