TEAM RULES AND EXPECTATIONS PRACTICES • Practice schedule is determined at the beginning of each season. • Attendance at practice is mandatory. An excused absence is an absence from school due to illness / family emergency. • If a dancer cannot be at practice or is going to be late, the coach must be notified PRIOR to absence. • Doctor / dental appointments are NOT excused absences from dance practice unless prior arrangements have been made with the coach. • An unexcused absence can result in the dismissal from the team. • Dancers are expected to wear the proper attire for every practice. The designated practice uniform will be provided including running shoes, dance shoes, hair in a high pony and no jewelry. • If a dancer is injured, they are expected to attend practice, so they are familiar with the routines. GAMES: • Attendance at games is mandatory. If you are unable to attend a game, the coach should be notified well in advance. An unexcused absence may result in dismissal from the team. • If a dancer is injured, they are still expected to attend the game to support the rest of the team. • You must show up to all games wearing the proper uniform (clean) and dance shoes (as indicated on the uniform sheet to be provided). NO JEWELRY OR FINGERNAIL POLISH. If a dancer is wearing the wrong uniform, that dancer will not perform. • Misconduct / being disrespectful to the opposing team or fans will result in a game suspension. • Any conduct deemed unacceptable by the coach or school administration will result in dismissal from the team. • If a dancer has any concerns with the team, she is to talk with the coach and not “gossip” with the others.
ROUTINES AND UNIFORMS: • Dancers must know ALL routines. Failure to do so will result in a game suspension. • Dancers will NEVER build / attempt stunts without the dance coach present. This is for your safety. • Dancers will always use the buddy system. • Dancers will not alter uniforms unless pre-approved. Doing so will result in replacement at your own expense. • Dancers will always carry themselves with pride and integrity, especially when in uniform! • Dancers will smile at all times (even if we are losing). • All dancers will be responsible for cleaning their own uniforms and turning them back in. • All uniforms will be due back to the coach at the end of the season (TBD). NO EXCEPTIONS! Failure to turn in uniforms will result in parents’ paying for the unreturned uniform(s). • Dancers must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher to be on the Dazzler Dance team and can be taken off the team by the coach or a DMS administrator if this average is not maintained. COMPETITION PERFORMANCES: • Dancers are not necessarily put into regional and national competition routines. • Each dancer must earn this position. Therefore, in some cases, the dancer might not be competing at the competition but will still attend the competition as an alternate to the routine. • Dancers and parents will be notified at least one week prior to the competition if the dancer becomes an alternate.
