Championship Regulations 1. Tournament Venue • Ruakaka Beach, Northland 2. Dates • Sign-in – 8am, Tuesday Jan 19 − 1 Head of Delegation per association required to attend. If no head of delegation from association 1 representative from each team. • Playing dates (Times) − Tuesday, Wednesday, 9am – 6pm, Thursday 9am – 3pm 3. Entry Fee • Entry Fee: $100.00 per team 4. Grades • Under 17 Boy’s / Under 17 Girl’s • Under 19 Boy’s / Under 19 Girl’s 5. Player Eligibility • Players must have New Zealand citizenship. New Zealand citizenship means the person holds or has issued in their name, at least one of the following documents: — A NZ Passport — A NZ Certificate of Citizenship — A NZ Birth Certificate — Or a NZ Resident Visa 6. Age Group Criteria • Under 17 Grades — Players cannot turn 17 in 2021 – Born 2005 or later • Under 19 Grades — Players cannot turn 19 in 2021 – Born 2003 or later 2021 New Zealand Beach Volleyball Championships 4
Players are expected to play in their age group. Exceptions should only occur if all the following stakeholders see that playing in a higher age group is in the best interest of the athlete’s long term holistic development: The player, their parents/guardians, and all relevant coaching staff. 7. Association Player (AP) • Player’s may only represent one Association. A players Association is defined by the following Firstly — the Association their Secondary School is affiliated to; Secondly — If the player does not attend a Secondary School, the Association that the athlete resides in, per their residential address, e.g. the Association of an athlete’s University or Tertiary Institution 8. Exemption Player (EP) • Each Association may register one (1) Exemption Player (EP) per age group. • An Exemption Player (EP) is defined as a player who has no Association to represent in their grade, and wishes to represent a different Association, other than that which is defined in the above Players Association section. 9. International Teams (IT) • An International Team is made up of 2 players who does not have New Zealand citizenship (as defined in the Player Eligibility section above). 10.Right of Entry • Each Association is responsible for ensuring that all players participating in the Championships have met the necessary player rules and regulations stipulated in Inter-Provincial Championships Event Manual. • Each of VNZ’s 14 Associations are allowed unlimited teams per gender, per grade: 2021 New Zealand Beach Volleyball Championships 5

Wellington • Where an Association enters two (2) or more teams, the Association is required to attest to the rankings of the teams on the final Team List submission 11.Team Registrations: • Association Registration − This is be a single registration form from an association of all teams that they have included in their squad. This is the preferred method of entry. The deadline for this entry will be 8 January. 12.Team Composition A team is made up of 2 players. After the technical meeting/ sign-in these teams will only be allowed to be changed under exceptional circumstances and at the decision of the Tournament Director. 13.Uniforms • Playing tops should be numbered, ideally these would be 1 & 2. • Team shirts and shorts must be matching in colour and design. • Uniform design is at the discretion of the association, Volleyball NZ would prefer that teams are in “association colours”. Even if an association chooses not to provide the uniform for their teams, they are still responsible for uniforms to be matching. 14.Net Height • Under 17 & Under 19 & Under 21 − Male: 2.43m − Female: 2.24m 2021 New Zealand Beach Volleyball Championships 6
15.Match Ball • Only the official VNZ Mikasa match ball VLS300) will be used for matches. • Two match ball per court will be provided. 16.Set Format • All matches will be best of 3 sets (2 sets to 21, 1 set to 15) with a 2-point advantage in all sets. • Adjustments to match length may be used by the organisers to meet draw requirements. • End switch every 7 points in sets to 21 and every 5 points in sets to 15. 17.Match Protocol • Teams must be present in the court at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time of their match. • Team will have a minimum 5 minutes warming up with balls on their side of the court • Teams will then have 5 minutes warm up together at the net • At the Organiser’s discretion, matches may be moved to a court differing from that scheduled in the Draw. 18.Coaching • Coaching of any kind by anyone is not permitted from the first serve of the set until the end of each set. Coaches may approach the players after each set, but not during the set. Coaches must sit at the side (middle of the court) or switch ends every 7 points with their players. • Timeouts cannot be called by anyone other than the team captain. 19.Match/Set Defaults • Any team which is not ready to take the court (2 players) at the scheduled start time of the match, or 10 minutes after the completion of the previous match (if behind schedule) will lose the first set by default. • If 10 minutes after the commencement of the match, the team has not yet arrived, the match is forfeited. • Extenuating circumstances will be considered by the Tournament Director, to delay or reschedule a match if circumstances warrant. • ALL Defaults must be handled in conjunction with a tournament official. Duty teams cannot decide on a default without informing the tournament office. 2021 New Zealand Beach Volleyball Championships 7
20.Official Protest • Should any team wish to make an official protest, the Team Captain must immediately notify the 1st Referee. • The match will be frozen. • The Court Controller notified, and the Tournament Director or Referee Delegate called. • A fee of $50 is required up front; any protest that is not upheld will be subject to a loss of $50. • If the protest cannot be resolved by the Referee Delegate/Tournament Director, the Disputes Committee will be formed to consider the Protest. The Disputes Committee may consist of any two of: — Tournament Director — Tournament Controllers — Independent • The Disputes Committee decision is final. 21.Duty • Each team is required to provide: − A first referee and a 2nd referee/scorer • All — Failure to properly complete duty will result to a $20 fine. — Teams must supply own whistles. 22. Adult Duty Responsibilities • For all matches the duty team should be aware of the whereabouts of the Associations head of delegation(s). The head of delegations should be the first point of contact if a duty team feels out of their depth and attempt to find a solution. If a solution can’t be found they should support the duty team and if required inform the tournament staff. 23.Pool Rankings Rankings will be determined as follows, in order of priority • Number of Victories: Teams will be classified in descending order by the number of matches won. • If there is a tie between just two teams, the set quotient will be looked at first, then the point quotient if still tied at set quotient. • Set quotient: In the case of equality in matches won by two or several teams, they will be classified in descending order by the quotient resulting from the division of the number of all sets won by the number of all sets lost 2021 New Zealand Beach Volleyball Championships 8
• Point’s quotient: In the case that the set quotient is the same for both teams, teams will be classified in descending order by the quotient resulting from the division of all points scored by the total of points lost during all sets which involve the 2 of the tied teams. • When the tie still exists in Set quotient is between 2 or more teams, a new classification of these teams point quotient will be made to include all pool matches. 24.Player and Coach Behaviour • Players and coaches are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and appropriate behaviour at all times. 2021 New Zealand Beach Volleyball Championships 9
