2018 European Championships Farrell & Team Ireland reach two EBSA Finals Congratulations to Ireland’s John Farrell who reached the Final of the 2018 European Masters Singles Championships. John was beaten 2-4 by Darren Morgan from Wales in a superb high quality final. Congratulations also to Team Ireland of Rodney Goggins & Greg Casey who reached the final of the European Men’s Team Snooker Championship but they were beaten 3-5 by Wales in the Mirage Hotel in Bucharest Romania.
2018 European Championships Well done to everyone on Team Ireland Well done to all the Republic of Ireland players who participated in the 2018 European 6 Reds Snooker Championships + Teams (Ladies, Masters & Men) + Single Ladies & Masters in Bucharest Romania. All players performed excellent with Michael Judge & Greg Casey reaching S/F (EBSA 6 red). Mark Tuite & John Farrell S/F (EBSA Men’s Team Championship). George O Hara & John Torpey in reaching Q/F in ( EBSA Masters Team Championships). Well done to everyone.
Ireland win 2018 Celtic Challenge Irish Juniors win 87 – 57 in Wales The Republic of Ireland National Under 14 and Under 16 Snooker teams have won the 2018 Celtic Challenge in the Terry Griffiths Matchroom in Llanelli, Wales for the third year in a row after a fantastic display of Snooker that saw the Irish juniors win all six sessions with an overall total 87 points to 57 points over a talented young Welsh team on Saturday the 30th of June. This annual event features the best Irish and Welsh Under 14 and Under 16 players. The six players on each team play two frames against each other over six sessions of play. The Under 16 Team was Aaron Hill Cork (Captain), Ryan McGuirk Meath, Jack Sheridan Dublin, Joe La Cumbre Laois, Leone Crowley Cork and Patrick Daly Kerry. The Under 14 Team was Sean Walsh Cork, Noel Gleeson Nenagh, Alex Currid Wexford, Aaron Smith Meath, Adam Quinn Offaly and Sean Paul Crowley Cork. The Irish team started off with an impressive 16-8 win in the first session and ended in style with another 16-8 win to win the title. Gordan Pantall and John Dobson from the Welsh Billiards & Snooker Association presented the Irish team captain Aaron Hill from the Crucible SC with the Perpetual Cup. The U-14 Team Manager was Declan Quinn and U-16 Team manager and Team Coach was PJ Nolan. The RIBSA Referees were Ger Murray and Shane Mason. The three mascots were Aoife Gleeson, Marie Gleeson and Shannon Nolan and they all did a superb job on the day RIBSA Vice Chairman Ger Murray said he was delighted with the performance from all our Juniors and all the hard work done by RIBSA through our National Coach is paying off with three victories in the last three years in this event.
Match Stats First Session Ireland won 16 – 8 Wales Second Session Ireland won 15 – 9 Wales Third Session Ireland won 13 – 11 Wales Fourth Session Ireland won 14 – 10 Wales Fifth Session Ireland won 13 – 11 Wales Six Session Ireland won 16 – 8 Wales Aaron Hill, Alex Currid and Ryan McGuirk had the best individual stats winning 10 out of his possible 12 frames. High Breaks on the day were Liam Davies 79 (Wales) in the U-14’s Ireland’s Aaron Hill 68, 63, Ryan McGuirk 51 and Patrick Daly 41 in the 16’s. In the team stats of the Irish Under 16’s won 45-27 while the Under 14’s won 42- 30 to give the Irish teams overall victory 87-57. National Coach PJ Nolan said ‘’ Well done to all the players for being so professional from the first to last frame. Three titles in a row is amazing but the training for the fourth in a row starts in September again. Congratulations to each player for flying the flag with passion and pride on their fantastic win today’’

Masters The Senior and Masters Championships will play 1.John Torpey from the 10th – 13th while the Under 21 and 2. Home International Training Weekend With PJ in Ivy Rooms SC The Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow will hold a training Camp weekend with our National Coach PJ Nolan on Saturday & Sunday the 4th and 5th of August from 11am-4pm.This camp is to help our players prepare for the up coming Home Internationals in Leeds. The 2018 Home Internationals Senior, Masters Under 21 and Under 16’s in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds from the 10th – 17th of August. Senior Team 1.Michael Judge 2. Rodney Goggins 3. The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association would like to announce the first event of the new season, The 2018 RIBSA Club Singles Snooker Championships on Sunday the 9th of September in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow. Each Registered Club can nominate two players into this event and ONLY Registered Clubs can nominate players into this event.
The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association have announced details of a sponsor opportunities for members and business to get more involved in the game each season. Gold, Silver and Bronze level of sponsors is available at the cost of €1000, €500 and €100 per season. Three tier level allows everyone to get involved and RIBSA would encourage all members to contact anyone they know.
World IBSF U-18 & U-21 China Hill Reaches Last16 & Bulman Q Finals Well done to the RIBSA players on performing well in the 2018 World IBSF U-18 & U-21 Championships in the city of Jinan China. The RIBSA players were Noel Landers, Stephen Bateman, Ronan Whyte, Aaron Hill, Sean Devenney and Ross Bulman. In the Under 18 Championship Aaron Hill performed best in reaching the Last 16 and in the U-21 Championship Ross Bulman performed best in reaching the Q-Final with Aaron Hill again reaching the last 16. Aaron Hill had the highest breaks making two 123 breaks in the event. The team were guided by our National Coach PJ Nolan in China and RIBSA Chairman Jim Leacy who is also the IBSF Vice President was the Team Delegate. The world’s finest U-21’s juniors battled it out for the world title in China from the 7th – 11th of July and it was China winning both world titles and making a 147 break along the way but our Irish boys in Bulman & Hill were the leading Europeans in the events.

World IBSF U-16 Russia RIBSA announce Junior Players RIBSA announced this week the following players who confirmed they will represent the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association in the 2018 IBSF World Under 16 Snooker Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia from the 30th September till 6th October. •Ryan McGuirk – R&R SC •Leone Crowley – Shooters SC •Jack Newman – Fermoy SC •Sean Walsh – Douglas SC •Lewis Casserly – R&R SC •TRAINING CAMP The Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow will hold a training Camp weekend with our National Coach PJ Nolan on Saturday & Sunday the 4th and 5th of August from 11am-4pm. This camp is to help our players prepare for the event. •PLEASE NOTE One RIBSA places is still available: If any RIBSA U-16 player wishes to play in this Championship, they should contact RIBSA on info@ribsa.ie and if a number of players wish to go then the U-16 Rankings will decide who qualifies.
The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association would like to remind all our members that RIBSA hold regular Coaching Courses to qualify members in becoming official RIBSA Coaches. The Coaches also needed to attend a sport partnership 3hr basic awareness course plus be Garda vetted before being presented with their Accreditation.
The World Seniors European Masters will be held from the 20th -22nd July in the Northwest Snooker Club in Letterkenny Co. Donegal. Do not miss your chance to come in a watch this new exciting World Snooker Senior Tour in Letterkenny next weekend. In November Celbridge SC will hold a qualifier for the Irish Masters from the 23rd-25th and you must enter via the Registration page and you will find this link on the ribsa web site.
