February 2, 2021 Fr. Thomas Milota Dear Parishioners of Saint Petronille, Ash Wednesday Next week begins Lent. We will have Masses at the normal times (6:15 am, 8 am, noon and 7 pm) and the PLC will be open for overflow; however, you will be required to sign up to attend Mass and receive ashes. Ashes will be distributed either by placing them on the top of one’s head as required by Pope Francis or in one’s hand. Please notice that ashes will not be placed on your forehead. Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal You should have received your Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal information in the mail last week. Please fill out your pledge card and return it in the mail to the Diocese of Joliet making certain to indicate Saint Petronille as your parish. PLEASE DO NOT RETURN YOUR PLEDGE CARD TO THE PARISH. This is a change from previous years due to the COVIDrestrictions. Thank you for your generosity. Create in me a Clean Heart – Brain, Heart, World Create in Me a Clean Heart is a self-guided, 3-part, virtual program offered through the St. Petronille YouTube page, February 15-25. This is an educational opportunity for you to learn about the dangers today's pornography industry poses to you, your loved ones and the world. You will learn how this billion- dollar industry preys on children through a variety of internet portals, propagates addictive behaviors in minors and adults, and fuels human trafficking. You can preview the program at your own pace and receive helpful resources to protect your family from internet pornography that is ruining relationships and hurting children. The pandemic has created a perverse opportunity for the porn industry. This eye- opening program is a first step in helping you protect your family. Parish Buddies Vaccine Help Our parish buddies are reaching out to many of our parishioners over the age of 75 to inquire whether they would like help signing up on-line to receive the vaccine. We realize that many find the on-line sign- up confusing. If you are having trouble signing-up and have not been contacted, please feel free to contact Tanya Singh at the parish office and she will arrange to have someone work with you to help you to sign- up. May Almighty God bless you and keep you. Prayers. In Christ, Fr. Milota February 14, 2021 Page 2 Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
