Palm Sunday March 28, 2021 MISSIONARY SISTERS OF THE SOCIETY OF MARY REGION OF THE AMERICAS – 349 Grove Street, Waltham, MA February 23, 2021 SMSM = SISTERS MOVING-SISTERS MOVING They came to our Region for a time of On-going Formation and nine months became three and half years. Now prepared with theological studies and vaccinated for Covid-19, our Scholastics are setting out again. On Wednesday 24th February 2021, Sr. Dipotta Sunitha Anthonippillai leaves for her long-awaited holiday with family in Sri Lanka before setting out for her new mission assignment in Senegal. Thursday 25th February, 2021, Srs. Mele Senitila Latu and Mira Taurannang will leave for Jamaica. Sr. Senitila for her new mission and Sr. Mira to await the re-opening of borders in the Pacific so she can leave for her home visit to Kiribati and to her new mission in Bangladesh. On Friday 26th February, 2021, Sr. Mary Eve Felesi sets out for her new mission destination of Peru. On that same day, Sr. Rebecca Maya Magnedena travels to Togo for her home visit before travelling to Senegal to complete her theology studies. We thank you dear sisters for your presence and loving service to the community of 62 Newton Street, especially during this trying time of pandemic. We wish you God’s speed as you set out again and as- sure you of our humble prayers. Domingo de Ramos 28 de Marzo del 2021 Queridos hermanos y hermanas, Estamos iniciando La Semana Santa, denominada antiguamente «semana mayor» o «semana grande». Esta es la semana que conmemora la Pasión de Cristo e inicia con el Domingo de Ramos. Desde el siglo V se celebraba en Jerusalén con una procesión la entrada de Jesús en la ciudad santa, poco antes de ser crucificado.El Domingo de Ramos -pregón del misterio pascual- comprende dos celebraciones: la procesión de ramos y la eucaristía. Lo que importa en la primera parte no es el ramo bendito, sino la celebración del triunfo de Jesús. Los ramos nos muestran que Jesús va a sufrir, va a morir, pero como vencedor; resucitara. El domingo de Ramos es la inauguración de la Pascua, o paso de las tinieblas a la luz, de la humillación a la gloria, del pecado a la gracia y de la muerte a la vida. La segunda parte de la Semana Santa está constituida por el Triduo Pascual, que conmemora, paso a paso, los últimos acontecimientos de la vida de Jesús, desarrollados en tres días; el Jueves Santo, el Viernes Santo y el Domingo de Resurrecion. En el evangelio de hoy escucharemos que una mujer llego con un frasco de perfume muy caro, de nardo puro; quebró el frasco y derramó el perfume en la cabeza de Jesús. Algunos dijeron indignados: “¿A qué viene este derroche de perfume? Podía haberse vendido por más de trescientos denarios para dárselos a los pobres”. Trescientos denarios era el salario de un año de una persona normal que trabajaba en esa época.
