Kia ora and welcome to Week 6 Senior Swimming Sports – Well done to all of our senior students who participated and gave it their all at this event. Add to this chanting and dressing up in house colours, and you have a spectacular day that not even the weather could dampen! Special congratulations must go to the students who qualified for the Lower Waipa Swimming Champs and to Miss Muckle for organising this fabulous event and also a special mention to our wonderful PTA team who rallied and manned this event, nothing beats a sausage sizzle on a cold day! Internet safety - While onsite at Pirongia School we (students and staff) are protected by an internet filtering service which actively monitors web pages visited and search terms used. It keeps us all safe! When students and staff leave the premises and connect to the internet using other networks there is still a degree of filtering and reporting happening. For example, when a student goes home and accesses the internet while still being signed into Google Chrome using the school provided email address, undesirable web pages or search terms will be recorded and flagged in the filtering system. Breaches of the school’s acceptable internet policy will be followed up by notifying parents (even if the breach happens out of school hours). Our main aim is to ensure our students remain safe. Celebrating our students out in the community and beyond! (I really appreciate knowing what our students are achieving outside of school. Please feel free to email the office or myself with the details so I can celebrate our students). Congratulations to Lucy Jackson - Lucy was to be competing at the Horse of the Year Show this week, Unfortunately, the prestigious annual competition, held in the Hawkes Bay, was cancelled due to Covid. Lucy had worked hard all year, qualifying to ride in 3 major title classes. Well done Lucy, although you didn’t get to compete, Pirongia School is very proud of you! Stock Car Enthusiasts – Well done to Kody and Dexter Curtin who are following their passion by racing their stock cars. Both boys are getting better with each and every meeting! Way to go boys! Have a fantastic week, Kelly Bicknell – Principal
