Message from Fr. Rodolfo Caballero
Greetings, sisters and brothers in Christ,
This past week we have prayed for the unity of Christians. We thank our Lord for the ad-
vances that we have made since our Church enrolled into this path of unity. This path has
enabled for all of us a change of attitude, especially in our own personal lives, by pointing
out what in our lives may hurt that unity. I have personally learned and have been inspired
by the testimony of good Christian friends and organizations that are non-Catholic. I have
come to value even more being a child of our Holy Mother the Church. Furthermore, I have
come to the realization that the push for new evangelization is ever more urgent. I am very
grateful to my non-Catholic Christian friends for that. And I am also very grateful to God for giving me the gift of
faith and the gift of the priesthood. I pray to God every day for constant conversion from anything that may hurt
the unity of our Church. My prayer to the Lord is for each parishioner, for our Parish and for the Catholic Church
to become a shining example of unity among all Christians and for the community at large.
May the Lord grant us the gift of unity. May the Lord bless you and the members of your family. Your brother and

Saludos, hermanas y hermanos en Cristo,
La semana pasada hemos orado por la unidad de los cristianos. Agradecemos a nuestro Señor por los avances
que hemos logrado desde que nuestra Iglesia se inscribió en este camino de unidad. Este camino ha supuesto
para todos nosotros un cambio de actitud, especialmente en nuestra propia vida personal, viendo lo que en
nuestras vidas duele esa unidad. Personalmente, he aprendido y me ha inspirado el testimonio de buenos ami-
gos cristianos y organizaciones que no son católicas. He llegado a valorar cada vez más el ser hijo de nuestra
Santa Madre Iglesia. Además, me he dado cuenta de que el impulso de la nueva evangelización es cada vez
más urgente. Estoy muy agradecido con mis amigos cristianos no católicos por eso. Y también estoy muy
agradecido con Dios por darme el don de la fe y el don del sacerdocio. Rezo a Dios todos los días por la con-
versión constante de cualquier cosa que pueda dañar la unidad de nuestra Iglesia. Mi oración al Señor por cada

Vocations Corner
A few weeks ago, I wrote that we don’t have to reject the joys
of life in order to become saints. In fact, we as Christians may
enjoy the beauty of life and affirm everything that is good in
human experience. What should set us apart as Christians,
however, is the constant recognition and awareness that eve-
rything we enjoy is a gift. You don’t need to be a Christian to
enjoy a nice, juicy steak dinner or to delight in a cool breeze
on a hot day. But followers of Jesus can—and ought to—
recall that they receive all these good things from God our
Father, the Source and Giver of every good and perfect gift
(cf. James 1:17). Cultivating this awareness daily leads to the
habit of gratitude. And this disposition of gratitude is essential
to our identity as disciples of Jesus. When we forget that the
goods we enjoy are gifts from God, we can easily fall prey to
the temptation to elevate the gifts over the Giver. Very often,
what is sin but disordered love? Prioritizing some created
good over the Creator. Elevating my own comfort at the ex-
pense of the well-being of my neighbor, who is created in
God’s image and likeness. Entrusting my life to some material
pursuit or political ideology rather than to Jesus, who is the
Way and the Truth and the Life. The antidote is remembering
from where—from Whom—all these good things come and
giving heartfelt thanks to our loving Father who gives us our
daily bread.

THE DIVINE MERCY
Weekly Message
Today I was in heaven, in spirit, and I saw its inconceivable beauties
and the happiness that awaits us after death. I saw how all creatures
give ceaseless praise and glory to God. I saw how great is happi-
ness in god, which spreads to all creatures, making them happy; and
then all the glory and praise which springs from this happiness re-
turns to its source; and they enter into the depths of God, contem-
plating the inner life of God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
whom they will never comprehend or fathom.
This source of happiness is unchanging in its essence, but it is al-
ways new, gushing forth happiness for all creatures. Now I under-
stand Saint Paul, who said, “Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard,
nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for
those who love Him.” (#777)

Dr. Gonzalez earned her B.A. in Psychology from the Uni-
versity of Texas at San Antonio, her M.A. in Clinical Psy-
chology from St. Mary’s University and her Psy.D.
(Doctorate in Psychology) from Our Lady of the Lake Uni-
versity. She completed her Clinical Psychology Internship
and Residency Training Program at the University of Texas
Health Science Center San Antonio, Department
of Psychiatry. She was born and raised in San Antonio and
attended Catholic school from first through twelfth grade,
graduating from Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and
Incarnate Word High School. She has worked in psycho-
logical and counseling services in a wide variety of settings
since 1990, to include in-patient and day treatment psychi-
atric hospital facilities, juvenile probation, public schools,

In the Acts of the Apostles, Saint Luke presents the com-
pelling story of how Jesus’ apostles and disciples carried
forward His holy mission of the universal Kingdom under
the guidance of the Holy Spirit, spreading the Gospel of

of the Roman Empire. Situated between the Gospels and
the Epistles, the Acts of the Apostles is the hinge upon
which the New Testament turns from the Old Covenant
fulfilled in Christ and the New Testament Church.
