Welcoming Ritual How do you cope when your kindergartener attends school for the first time? ● Gaze at the clock all day counting the hours until pick up ● You have younger siblings at home and are excited to have less on your plate ● You look forward to some well deserved me time. ● You ask, do they miss me? Are they crying? ● You are concern that your child does not know anyone, needs a nap, cries all day, and does not eat lunch, and maybe hungry ● Goes out with a friend for lunch ● Go home and sob
Google Meet Norms 1. Mute your microphone. 2. Raise your hand to speak. 3. Listen while others are talking. 4. Do not take pictures or record the meet. 5. Participate actively and have fun!

COVID-19 Procedures & Safe Guards ❖ Social distancing is practiced throughout the entire school ❖ Students are seated 3-6 ft apart in the classroom and the cafeteria. ❖ Masks are required for students and adults entering the building ❖ Corridors are marked to indicate where students should stand ❖ Furniture, floors, and all common areas are sanitized daily ❖ Sanitizer stations are in the classrooms and cafeteria ❖ Adults and students are to wash hands regularly ❖ Students and teachers enter a building one way and exit another way ❖ Playground is currently closed. ❖ Fine Arts teachers rotate weekly instead of daily
Registetr ITEMS NEEDED FOR REGISTRATION FY 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR ● Birth Certificate of Passport (or acceptable alternative proof of age) ● Two proofs of address: Current Lease, Deed, telephone bill or utility bills (most recent, 30days) ● State of Florida School Entry Health Form-Current within 12 months of enrollment (must be original) ● Florida Certificate of Immunization Record on HRS Form 680 (must be original with doctor's signature) ● If a child lives with someone who is not a parent, you may also need to complete a student resident form, which is available at the school. ● Student entering Kindergarten this year MUST be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2021
Let’s Get Ready Kindergarten! School starts August 10, 2021 First Day of School for Kindergartners August 10, 2021 Staggered Start: August 10, 2021 August 11, 2021 August 12, 2021 August 13, 2021 Monday-Thursday ● Pants, shorts, skirts, or jumpers ● Color Choices: black, navy or khaki ● Shirts: Polo style or blouse in any color ● Egret Lake uniform T-shirts with small left side logo Fridays ONLY “Spirit Day” ● School related T-shirts ● Collegiate shirts ● Blue Jeans
Adjusting to the First Day in Kindergarten ● Make your goodbyes cheerful and brief ● Try to avoid coming back to the classroom after you have already said goodbye ● Some children respond well to a planned ritual ● Quick goodbyes leave dry eyes!
Attendance The Kindergarten curriculum is very rigorous. It is imperative that your child attend school regularly to be successful. Your child’s attendance is vital to their growth. ● All ABSENCES must be excused within 24 hours. ● School begins at 8:00 a.m. sharp! ● Students arriving after 8:00 are considered TARDY. ● Students hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.
Arrival/Dismissal ● Student drop off time is 7:30 a.m. ● Breakfast is available to all students starting at 7:30 a.m. ● To ensure your child’s safety, all changes in a student dismissal must be submitted in writing to the teacher or the front office ● Early dismissal ends at 1:30 p.m. ● ID is required for early dismissal ● Dismissal starts at 1:50 p.m. for all students
Transportation ● Bus: Find you bus number and bus stop online at www.palmbeachschools.org ● You may also contact the main office for help with finding your child’s bus route. ● Car: Remain in your car at all times and the card with your child’s name must be visibly placed on the car’s dashboard ● To ensure that your child board their correct form of transportation a color coded wristband will be attached to your child’s Book bag. Please DO NOT remove these tags from your child’s book bag.

Egret Afterschool Afterschool Program is offered Monday-Friday ● The program offers a curriculum rich in Social and Emotional Learning, Yoga, Music and Movement, Art and Craft, and Science. ● Homework assistance is also a part of the afterschool program The program offers full-time and part-time enrollment ● Part-time 2 pm - 4 pm ● Full-time 2 pm - 6 pm ● Registration forms can be picked up in the front office. ● We do accept students who are funded by the Early Learning Coalition Contact: Mrs. Jilya Grant Afterschool Director Egret Lake Elementary Jilya.grant@palmbeachschools.org Phone: 561-616-7930. Primary Project • Primary Project is a nationally recognized program that helps children in grades K and 1st adjust to their environment, build confidence, social skills, and Your picture Here! emphasizes learning. • Positive relationships are critical to school success and Primary Project allows children to make a positive connection with Child Associate, Ms. Gales. • Students meet individually with Ms. Gales once a week for 12-13 weeks. Sessions are between 30-40 minutes where children can learn through play. • In the playroom, students will find a variety of expressive toys such as: Legos, Child Associate blocks, dolls, cars, Play-Doh, sand, and much more.
