Cairns Language Centre is one of Australia’s longest established English
Language schools since 1966. Dedicated to the facilitation of learning
through a wide range of programs: rigorous curricula, effective teaching,
multiple leadership and service opportunities, social development
activities and character-building initiatives.
This course fee booklet will help to guide you through our
courses on offer, and assist with your decision to study at
Cairns Language Centre.

Examination Dates are set by Cambridge University.
The above classes are subject to a minimum number of enrolled students. Registrations close 3 months prior to start date. After that date, if minimum numbers have been reached then further
enrolments shall be accepted. If minimum numbers are not met, the class will be cancelled. As an alternative, students can choose to enrol in a General English Super Intensive or Intensive Course with
FCE/CAE/CPE as an elective.
Listening and speaking tests are held two weeks prior to written examinations.
Minimum numbers are required for the Cambridge Exams to be held in Cairns.

Course Overview
12 week package – prepare yourself for working in Australia. Your first 10 weeks will be spent improving your general
English skills. The final 2 weeks you will be learning basic skills to assist you in the workforce in Australia, or abroad.

^ Students may only progress to this module if their English Language
has been assessed by the Cairns Language Centre at a Level B2 or Students who meet the required will receive credit for
above. Students who do not meet this level shall continue studying the following Nationally Accredited Competencies:
English instead of undertaking the Essential Skills program. SITHFAB005 - Prepare and serve espresso coffee
SITHFAB002 - Provide responsible service of alcohol
SITXFSA001 - Use hygienic practices for food safety

Diving English Package

Course Overview
Combine learning English with the real adventure of diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
Week 1: General English Super Intensive | Week 2: 5-Day Diving Course
The 5-Day Diving Course includes: The package does not include:
• Classroom and pool training with experienced instructors • On-shore accommodation
• 4 training dives and 5 pleasure dives, includes one night dive • Swim wear or towels (student to provide own)
• 3 days/2 nights living on board a diving board on the Great • Diving Course farewell dinner

• Use of quality dive equipment You must be able to:
• Passport photos • Dive Insurance • Swim 200 or 300 metres with mask, snorkel and fins
• PADI Certificate • Tread or float in water for 10 minutes
^ Accommodation on board the diving boat (3 days/2 nights) includes all meals, twin share accommodation.
*Prior to commencing your Dive Course you will be required to complete the self-assessment “Student Diver Medical
Declaration”. If there are any pre-existing health conditions that may affect your safety while diving, a dive medical
certificate will be required.
High School Preparation
Course Overview
Quality High School Preparation Program with rigorous curricula, specialist subject focus (Science and Mathematics),
high school integration, social development activities and character building. Small classes with outstanding results.
The High School Preparation courses are specifically designed for students who are planning to attend a High
School in Cairns. Prior to enrolling in this course a student should hold an acceptance and study plan from Education
Queensland International (EQI) for a State High School or an acceptance from a private High School.
Students may enrol in 1, 2 or 3 courses. Minimum age for entry is 12.

Students under 18 years of age must study Full Time (25 Hours Per Week).
The following conditions for students staying with one of our Homestay Families apply:
Full board, Airport Pick-up and Drop-off, and Guardianship.
Students 12 to 15 years of age:
Accepted into our Junior Program only.
Junior Program available upon request (please contact us for further enquiry).

Holiday schedule
The last day of classes in 2018 will be Friday 21 December 2018. The Centre will be closed from 22 December 2018 to
6 January 2019 (inclusive) and will reopen on Monday 7 January 2019.
In addition to the above, the Centre will be closed on the following dates in 2019:

The last day of classes in 2019 will be Friday 20 December 2019. The Centre will be closed from 21 December 2019 to
5 January 2019 (inclusive) and will reopen on Monday 6 January 2020.Overseas student health cover
The Australian Government required all Student Visa holders to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), which
provides medical and hospital insurance in Australia. You must not arrive in Australia before your health insurance starts.
Cover is calculated on the length of the Student Visa.
