Boarding School Immersion Programme Monday 1 June to Wednesday 1 July • Available for a stay of 2, 3 or 4 weeks • Limited places are available in Years 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 • Price: £1250 per week (all inclusive) This is an outstanding opportunity to become a member of the Windermere School community and make friends from around the world whilst improving English skills and developing independence. You will learn alongside Windermere School pupils (75% British) and will join in with all aspects of school life, following the normal timetable of lessons. You will also take part in sports and activities including sailing at Hodge Howe, the school’s private watersports centre on the shores of Lake Windermere, and hiking in the English Lake District. English tuition is provided in small groups and you will join our weekly excursions to a range of exciting destinations. Accommodation is in one of our three boarding houses under the care of resident Houseparents. Places are limited and enquiries for small groups are welcome.

Windermere International Summer School 3-15 July and 17-29 July 2020 The Adrenaline Summer School! English OR Sailing OR Sports/Activities Are you between 10 and 16 years old with a great sense of adventure? If hiking some of the best mountains in England, traversing the side of a cliff on the Via Ferrata, indoor skydiving, sailing on one of Britain’s most iconic lakes and whizzing down the longest zip wire in Europe (and fastest in the world!) sounds exciting to you, then you have found the right place! Come and join our exciting and extensive programme of activities and sports in the beautiful Lake District countryside. Our outdoor education programme will exhilarate and challenge you whilst improving self-confidence, teamwork and leadership skills and giving that adrenaline high! Safety is our highest priority and all of our activities are led by experienced and qualified staff. Option 1: ENGLISH WITH ADRENALINE ACTIVITIES. You will enjoy 27 hours of English lessons per course from our qualified and experienced teachers. Lessons cover a wide range of topics from food, agriculture, the home, transport and the environment. All aspects of English will be taught, with a particular emphasis on improving spoken English. There will still be plenty of opportunity to enjoy sailing, watersports and other sports and activities in the afternoons! Option 2: SAILING WITH ADRENALINE ACTIVITIES. The Sailing Windermere International Summer School has its own Royal Yachting Association (RYA) accredited sailing centre on the shores of Lake Windermere. You must have a high command of English to choose the morning sailing option. Throughout your stay, you will progress towards a RYA qualification. Wetsuits, waterproof jackets and buoyancy aids are provided. Our sailing courses are suitable for beginners to intermediate sailors. Option 3: SPORTS/ACTIVITIES WITH ADRENALINE ACTIVITIES. This course offers a wide range of sports and activities led by our activity team and Windermere student mentors. Typical morning activities include badminton, basketball, cricket, tennis, running club, volleyball, chess club, arts and crafts, treasure hunts, table tennis, and traditional British games.

Are you between 10 and 16 years old and looking for an amazing summer school adventure? Come and immerse yourself in British Culture and join our exciting and extensive programme of English lessons, activities and sports in the beautiful Lake District countryside. Enjoy spectacular scenery, learn to sail on one of Britain’s most iconic lakes and shop till you drop on our fabulous city excursions! Our teaching and activity staff work hard to ensure you mix well, make friends and speak in English. Safety is our top priority and many staff are first-aid trained. Windermere International Summer School Introduction to Windermere School With its long heritage, Windermere School has a modern and innovative approach that encourages young people to strive for excellence in all things. Our amazing location in an area of outstanding beauty in the UNESCO World Heritage site, the English Lake District, offers a stimulating environment in which to excel and develop both in and out of the classroom. Accommodation You live in well equipped, comfortable boarding houses on the school campus. Accommodation has: • Spacious rooms, many with views over Lake Windermere • Free Wi-Fi • 4 – 6 bedded rooms for younger students; 2 – 4 bedded rooms for older students • Common Room with games, TV and books • Each boarding house has a kitchen to make drinks and snacks • No phone at night policy to ensure a good night’s sleep • Laundry
Food We provide plenty of fresh healthy food, prepared daily by the school’s chefs and served in our Dining Room. There is always a choice of hot and cold options at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Packed lunches are provided when off site. Hot and cold dishes at every meal in our Dining Hall. Fresh fruit and salad bar always available. Vegetarians, vegans, halal and other dietary needs can be easily accommodated.
Boarding School Immersion Programme Staff We employ dedicated full-time residential staff to ensure you are safe and happy at all times. Houseparents ensure students’ wellbeing in the boarding houses. Our teaching and activity staff work hard to ensure you mix well, make friends and speak in English. Many staff are first-aid trained and we operate a high staff:student ratio at all times.

You will work your way through the RYA Youth Sailing Syllabus collecting awards as you complete each level.

Adult Courses (non residential) English lessons • Small class sizes of up to 8 • £300 per week Come and learn English in one of the most spectacular locations in England! You will receive tuition in small groups by our experienced team of well qualified teachers Optional afternoon activities (all-inclusive) • Fully escorted small groups • £300 per week extra Typical afternoon activities will include: Local (easy!) guided walk, rowing boat on Grasmere, cruise on Lake Windermere, exploring the world of Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit, British Etiquette and the Royal Family, British food and drink, afternoon tea at a Country House Hotel, tour of local cheese, food and drink outlets, visit the Alpacas, Levens Hall and Topiary Garden, Sizergh Castle and Farm Shop, Shopping trips.
