WELCOME TO THE COURSE Dear Participant, It brings us great pleasure to welcome you to ASTP’s training course, Organising your KTO for Growth and Success. KTOs have a specific role to play within the organisation and their organisational models must be in-line with the mission and funding model of the public research organisation they are supporting. This training course aims to help you clarify the role, objectives and tasks of your KTO, understand the stakeholders’ expectations, assess your organisational model and staffing. The training course is devoted to the operational aspects of the KTOs. We will present and discuss practices and processes related to the management of contracts and patent portfolio, the engagement of academics, and reporting to stakeholders. Concrete suggestions on how to find external partners and build strategic relationships will also be presented together with experiences related to the use of Proof of Concept and start-up investment funds. The course will draw on the complementary experiences of the trainers and on the reflection of participants. We look forward to working with you over the next few days.
