PLEASE DONATE USED BOOKS!! Clean out your book shelves! The KIDS USED BOOK BARGAIN isn’t until May but we are now accepting donations. Please take a few minutes to clean off a bookshelf and donate your unwanted kids books to Dousman Elementary! The donation bin is next to the lost-and-found and includes donation tax refund forms. We are looking for all levels of children’s books and always are in need of upper grade level books (4th,5th,6th). Thank you for your donations! District News KM Explore Application Window is Open The application window for KM Explore, Kettle Moraine's Elementary Charter School, is open February 3rd- March 3rd at 12 p.m. for the 2020-21 school year. Serving students in 5K through
5th grade, KM Explore is located on the campus of Wales Elementary and follows ve speci c learning pillars: Multiage Learning Collaborative Teaching Generative Curriculum Place Based Learning Habits of Mind Parents and students also have the opportunity to visit the school on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 9-10 a.m. for a tour and time in the classroom. PARENT RESOURCE NETWORK “Making Healthy Habits Stick by Engaging the Subconscious” - Presented by Janet Golownia - January 17, 2020 11am - Noon, Yoga 4 All, Wales We all want to be healthy. Unfortunately, that means creating healthy new habits. In this unique presentation, nd out why our logical minds are useless when it comes to taking actions that create change. Learn why we must engage the subconscious mind to create change and then begin to tap into that part of our mind as Janet leads us all in a session of yoga nidra. Register at https://healthyhabitskmprn.eventbrite.com “Resiliency Building and Positive Parenting Using Love & Logic” - by Alissa Darin - January 29, 2020 6:30-8 p.m. - Wales Elementary Dragon’s Den As parents, raising healthy and resilient children amongst the stress and change of life is a goal at every developmental stage. This session will provide resiliency training strategies for parents to empower their students to deal with today’s stressors in a healthy manner. This includes building an understanding of the differences between what is normal stress versus anxiety. Additionally, an overview of Love and Logic® strategies that help to create a home environment for responsibility, resiliency, and academic achievement will be shared. Alissa Darin is currently a school administrator and licensed professional counselor in training for the Gals Institute. She has a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in Education & Kinesiology and a master's degree from Marquette University in counseling. Additionally, she is a Love and Logic facilitator. Community Education KM Community Education provides recreational and educational opportunities for families. Please be sure to visit the website often for updates and new programs. Youth Volleyball League - Co-Ed Recreational Volleyball Friday nights beginning running March-May is now available for grades 4-8. Register online Grades 4-5 Grades 6-8 Cushing Bricks4 Kidz- Cushing Elementary Grades K-5 Class begins 1/28/20. We learn, we build, we play with LEGO bricks. Wales After School Chess Class - Grades K-5 class begins 2/4/20 Children's Choir - Kettle Moraine Children’s Choir for grades 3rd-5th is a program to provide developmentally appropriate comprehensive music education through the art of choral singing to the families and community of the Kettle Moraine School District. Class is held Mondays at Wales Elementary at 4:30. FREE KM Girls Lacrosse - Try it clinic - 1/16 & 1/23 held at STIKS Academy. Grades 3-8, learn the rules, positions and fundamentals of passing and catching. Coaches will introduce the game in a fun and interactive manner. Players must bring a mouth guard.
