Corbett Prep Wins Best of the Best! HEADS’ LETTER JANUARY 9, 2020 HAPPY NEW YEAR CORBETT PREP! We’re excited to ROAR into 2020 with our students to produce a plethora of positive energy and a love of learning. On Monday, January 6, the entire faculty and staff joined together to commit to the “One Word” strategy (by Jon Gordon) for creating a year of outstanding results. We also shared his video on how to continue to create a positive, cohesive and appreciative culture that would benefit all of us working at Corbett Prep…that will, in turn, be felt by all of you! The How of WOW was also part of the start to the new year! One of the many inspiring messages in the book comes from the following quote (adapted for positive phrasing): “It is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction,” by Charles Francis Adams. So, on Tuesday, January 7, all classrooms and staff welcomed students back with the intention to exceed expectations for the new year and to model that same attitude and disposition for our community. Our next EDU-TALK will share more about the process because these ideas are also good for all working environments and even for home! The next EDU-TALK is Tuesday, January 21, at 8:00 a.m. in the Grand Room! CORBETT PREP FAMILIES: SINCERE GRATITUDE We are always filled with gratitude for you for honoring our faculty and staff so generously during the holiday season. Please know how much everyone deeply appreciated your thoughtfulness. HUGE kudos to the PFA leadership and classroom ambassadors for generously sharing their time and energy to coordinate such an enormous task and heartfelt effort. The appreciation was overflowing, sending everyone on their way to enjoy the holiday season!!!! EARLY PRIMARY: LITERATURE and PROMISES PRE-K 3 – The Flower Patch welcomed back students in the new year with a kick-off to their new unit, Leap Into Literature! Over the break, parents emailed photos of their children reading books in creative and silly ways! The Flower Patch Teachers then used the photos to incorporate the students into an adaption of the book, We Are In A Book, by Mo Willems. The pages of the adapted book were displayed around the classroom for the students to see as they entered. The Teachers then read the story to the students, who giggled excitedly at seeing their photos in the book…you can check out our Facebook page to see the excitement firsthand! KINDERGARTEN – The Frogs are learning about celebrations and traditions around the world, while studying their International Baccalaureate Unit "How we express ourselves." Each student talked about his/her personal dreams and goals for 2020, and lanterns filled with student wishes were sent to the sky! This video captures the joy, curiosity, hopes and dreams of our early learners! https://youtu.be/Y4Q9zOpzPiE FEEDING TAMPA BAY: Corbett Prep – WE Made a Difference The Corbett Prep Middle School Leadership Student Council would like to extend TONS of GRATITUDE to the entire Corbett Prep Community for its tremendous support of our annual food drive for Feeding Tampa Bay!!
