Everywhere you look there are paintbrushes, card and colour. I think the hall display is going to look fabulous and we will share pictures with you as soon as it is completed. In addition to this Christmas is just around the corner and we are trying our hardest to make Christmas as special as always despite some of the usual festivities having to be cancelled. Each class is busy filming their special video to share with parents and your child’s teacher will shortly send you a link to their class video. Thank you to parents for providing costumes items required for the filming. We are going to have our Christmas Jumper Day and a hot Christmas meal on Friday, 11th December and our Christmas Party Day will be on Wednesday, 16th December. This year we are not able to invite you to send party food to school but we will be providing treats and some online entertainment to get the children in the party swing. We will also be showcasing the many talents of our pupils with our virtual Xmas Factor competition too on Thursday, 17th December.
One thing that we are unable to organise safely is the delivery of Christmas cards throughout the school. I apologise for this but as we are still operating in bubbles and safety is paramount, the distribution of Christmas cards create an unnecessary risk. We can, however facilitate the exchange of cards within the cohort bubble so that your child/ren are able to send cards to their closest school friends. Please ensure that your child only brings cards to school that are for their cohort (year group) friends and not for children in other departments or year groups. Children can take them to their classroom where a posting point will be set up. Thank you for your continued support! Christine Myers Christmas Jumper Day & Christmas Dinner – Friday 11th December On Friday 11th December the children will (if booked) have a Christmas meal in school. The tables in their class bubbles will be decorated and we will play Christmas music to create a Christmas atmosphere. We will also inviting staff and pupils to wear a Christmas Jumper for a small voluntary donation. This year we will be sharing the amount raised between ‘Save the Children’ https://christmasjumperday.org/ and ‘Rossendale Food Box Scheme’ the Rossendale Food Box Scheme Facebook Page Friday Collection for the RAFT Foundation & Christmas Gift Appeal We have received an amazing response to our request for donations to The RAFT Foundation with our weekly Friday collection. The children will find a collection box by their entrance as they arrive at school on a Friday morning. Last week the RAFT Foundation provided food for 1,596 meals, food for 20 pets, 19 packs of nappies and 200 Christmas gifts in one week alone. They are currently short of items such as sugar, coffee, cooking oil, gravy, mince pies, Christmas pudding and have also appealed for gift items for all ages to ensure they are able to put together family ‘Santa Sacks’ for any family referred for support up until Christmas Eve. Items could include family games, boxes of chocolates and selection boxes for children. Unused and unwanted gifts would be gratefully received and practical additions such as hot water bottles, PJs (for all ages), gloves, hats and scarves are appreciated. Santa Sacks and wrapping paper is also really helpful. Thank you again for your help in supporting those families in need within our local community.
