VOCALS Training Information Lesson Layout At ProVocals, we focus on both the technical and practical aspects of being a singer. During each lesson, we will cover all the relevant topics to develop proper vocal control and vocal health. ProVocals makes use of effective methods to train singers of all ages and backgrounds. The singing lessons are fun and informative. They include crucial technique development strategies to help build a strong vocal foundation. In the process, our students gain confidence and knowledge. They grow creatively and develop their talents. We focus on vocal techniques, proper breathing, ear training, posture, vocal health, and so much more. Available Training Days Vocal training slots will only be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The lessons are booked for every week of the month and are subject to availability. Bookings are strictly on a first-come, first-serve basis. Lessons Time Slots Lesson bookings will be available from 11:00 in the morning, and the last lesson will commence at 19:00 on the above mentioned days. Bookings are divided into 1-hour slots and start on the hour. Bookings are strictly on a first-come, first-serve basis. Weekends and Public Holidays There are no lessons on weekends or public holidays. School Holidays Lessons will continue during the school holidays. You will receive make-up credits if you provide sufficient notice before you go on holiday. Remember you can cancel your lessons yourself on the portal. December Holidays The school will close on 18 December 2020 and will reopen on 4 January 2021. VOCALS New Student Registrations Assessment Consultation There are optional 1-hour assessment consultations available at R100 per booking. The consultation is convenient for new students that would first like to visit the premises and to do an aural/vocal evaluation. During the 1 hour consultation, we will discuss your training needs and what ProVocals can offer you. After the consultation, we do a vocal range test and note recognition test. You can book your consultation via telephone, What's App or email. We will then forward you the availability, invoice and banking details. We will only confirm your consultation booking once proof of payment is received. Student Registration As mentioned above, the student consultation assessment is optional. Students can register during the consultation assessment or via the website or email. If you have trouble with the online registration, kindly request a PDF version from us. The registration is free of charge – you will receive your first month's invoice once your booking slot is confirmed. Students that join in the middle of the month will receive a pro-rata invoice. Orientation Lesson Once registered, the student will have their orientation lesson first. Orientation prepares the student for the lessons ahead. This lesson is mostly informative and explanatory – so please don't be discouraged if we don't start singing immediately. The information shared in this lesson is very important and beneficial to your vocal health. We encourage students to please bring a water bottle and flip file to every lesson. General Lesson Booking Information Every student will receive a default weekly booking slot. VOCALS Student Portal Each student will receive access to the ProVocals Student Portal. Login details will be emailed once the student is registered on the system. Students can use the student portal to: • Cancel and book lessons • Manage their make-up credits • View their lesson calendar • Read school emails • View their account balance • Download class content (Vocal exercises, lyrics etc.) • Read latest school news • Update their details Lessons and Rates ProVocals offer two lesson options for students which consist of 60 minutes or 90 minutes of training per week. These are flat monthly rates, so there will be training every week of the month regardless of four- or five-week months. These rates are valid from 1 January 2020 until 31 December 2020. VOCALS Housekeeping Food and Drinks Kindly take note that there are no food or drinks allowed around any of the electrical equipment or musical instruments. Food and beverages are permitted only in the waiting area and around the coffee station. Hydration During Lessons I want every student to please bring a water bottle to class, so that you can hydrate while we sing. Water bottles are allowed on the studio floor. I will appreciate if we could keep the paper cup use to a minimum of one cup per person, per lesson. Studio Visitors and Guests Students are welcome to bring up to 4 guests to their lesson. Please ensure that they are quiet and well behaved while in the waiting area. No one, except registered students, is allowed around the pianos, musical equipment or on the studio rehearsal floor. If guests become distracting, they will be asked to leave the studio. Coffee and Tea Station There are complimentary coffee and teas available to all students and guests. Please make sure to use only one cup per person during a session. There is quite a lot of paper cups, coffee and tea going to waste unnecessarily – please use sparingly. Bathrooms There is a public bathroom outside – just down the passageway for students to use. Kindly keep the bathroom clean and tidy after you've used it. Student Waiting Area If a student is early for their lesson, they are welcome to come into the studio and wait in the waiting area. VOCALS General Housekeeping Kindly keep the studio neat and clean. Please place your cups in the dustbin and tidy up your area when you leave. School Policies and Rules Lesson Attendance We run a strict hourly booking schedule and can only accommodate each student during their allocated booking time. Late students will forfeit their time missed regardless of the situation. We do not allow any overlap of lessons. Students that don't arrive for an active lesson booking will be marked absent. Lesson Cancellation Policy We offer a 23-hour cancellation policy. If a student cannot attend their lesson, we require a minimum 23-hours notice to cancel the lesson. Once we receive sufficient notice and confirm your cancellation, the student will receive a make-up credit in their account to book a make-up lesson. Students can also cancel their lessons on their student portal directly, and they will automatically receive a make-up credit provided it qualifies under the cancellation policy mentioned above. Students receive an automated reminder SMS and email 24-hours before their lesson. After the reminders are sent, there is one hour grace period for cancelling the lesson should they need to. This grace period results in the 23-hour notice policy. Please take note: A management system automates the reminder SMS and emails. VOCALS Make-Up Credit Policy The Make-Up Credit System is our way of trying to assist our students in situations when they really cannot attend a lesson. Make-up credits are issued only if a student cancels their lesson at least 23-hours before their lesson. Once a make-up credit is issued, the student can book a make-up lesson. Make-up credits expire after 60-days without notification. Students are responsible for booking their make-up lessons before their credits expire. There is no limit on the number of make-up credits that a student can accumulate; however, all make-up credit balances reset to zero after every quarter of the year. Make-up credit balances reset at the end of March, June, September and December. Please note that make-up credits are not transferrable; they have no cash value and cannot be refunded. Make-Up credits cannot be used to pay for your next months' lessons. Make- up credits are strictly only valid to book a make-up lesson within 60-days or before the end of the quarter. Make-up credits cannot replace your default lesson bookings. Please use your make-up credits before you plan to leave the school – all make-up credit balances reset once a student resigns. Please take note: An automated system manages the make-up credits. We are unable to manually adjust make-up credit balances because it revokes auto-tracking of available credit expiry dates. Account Payments Students or parents will receive their invoice on the 25th of each month. Invoices are due before the 1st of the following month. All lessons are paid for the month upfront. Students have from the 25th until the 1st to settle their account. Account payments can be made cash, via EFT, debit or credit cards. *Please send proof of payment to info@provocals.co.za for EFT payments. If however there is a payment problem, kindly communicate with us so that we can make a note on the account. Once we receive communication regarding your payment query, we can arrange for late payment before your first lesson for that month. This arrangement is not an accepted default agreement but rather a solution for once-off unforeseen circumstances. If an account is not settled by the 7th of the month, we will close the account and schedule a new student in that slot. Unfortunately, lessons cannot continue without payment. VOCALS Refunds Due to the nature of our scheduling policies, we, unfortunately, do not offer any refunds. Parking and Communal Area All students and the public is required to park on the parking bays outside the property. Please ensure your car is locked at all times. Car jamming is a reality even though we are situated in a security boomed-off area. No one is allowed to park inside the property as it is reserved for staff only. We ask all visitors and students to respect the communal area. We don't allow any loud noises or offensive language, and please keep the area neat and clean. ProVocals Terms and Conditions • ProVocals reserves the right of admission • Any damages or vandalism to ProVocals property or equipment will lead to the immediate dismissal of the student and their guests. • No equipment or property of ProVocals Vocal Academy is allowed to leave the studio under any circumstances. • No discrimination or unruly behaviour will be tolerated. • ProVocals, the owner and its staff will not be held responsible for any damages to any of its visitors, students and their belongings. • Students and public enter the premises at their own risk. 7 35 Swallow Drive 063 100 1235 Fourways info@provocals.co.za Johannesburg www.provocals.co.za
VOCALS Leaving The School If you plan to leave ProVocals, please send us written notification via email or text message as soon as possible. Kindly settle any outstanding balances and include the date that you would like to attend your last lesson so that we can free up your lesson slot afterwards. We are unable to place a new student in your slot if you just stay away without any communication. Communication Channels Please feel free to communicate via telephone, SMS, What's App and Email.
