Upminster Cricket Club • UCC was formed in 1858 (160 years ago!) making it one of the oldest in the area • Moved to it’s current home in Upminster Park in early 1920s • Club struggled in the 1980s, and it wasn’t until 1993 when a colts section was started again by John Sutton that membership numbers improved • Today, we are one of the largest clubs in Essex • 6 senior sides in the Essex League • About 170 colt members playing 60 matches each season 22 March 2018 UCC Colts Evening 3

Committee business • A club of this size takes a lot of organization and planning • Income and expenditure typically in the region of £65-75k per annum • We aim to run at small surplus, and remain a financially secure and well run club • We have been Clubmark accredited for over 10 years https://www.ecb.co.uk/be-involved/club-support/clubmark • We actively seek to invest retained funds to further develop our facilities 22 March 2018 UCC Colts Evening 5

Investing in our facilities Coopers School Main Ground • Roll-on covers • New Scoreboard for 2018 • Sightscreens • Pavilion refurbishment! • Boundary rope • Equipment store • Roller to improve wicket • Paid groundsman • Training facilities and equipment Campion School • Developed a new cricket square • Roller to improve wicket • Further improvements in 2018 Overall, some very significant investment for the future. Pavilion refurbishment • Plans now finalised and submitted for approval • Funding from Pavilion Club, UCC and UHC • We will also need to raise additional funds / grants • Work not likely to commence until September 2019 22 March 2018 UCC Colts Evening 9
Sponsorship • We have focussed our efforts on sponsorship in recent years • Our aim is to have long term relationships with key sponsors – therefore we need to make these mutually beneficial • We are delighted to have significant support from Hunter and Co, a local accountancy firm, as our main club sponsor • 3 year deal started in 2017 • We are also announcing a new sponsorship deal with Kushoom Bugh this week 22 March 2018 UCC Colts Evening 10

Windmill Whack • A unique intra-club T20 competition launched in 2016 • Six sponsored ‘franchises’ compete for glory • Teams of mixed ability from 1st XI to 6th XI, colts players and former members • One ‘overseas player’ per team – guest players from the top local clubs • Highly competitive and highly social – club pride is at stake • Spectators very welcome! 22 March 2018 UCC Colts Evening 14

Subscriptions Registration night for the summer season is on Friday 27 April. The following fees will apply for the 2018 summer season: Mini’s and U7: £60 Year 3 and above: £100 Match Fees: £3 when a child plays in any match at U15 and below. A “sibling discount” is available to parents / guardians with more than one child registering. This will be a £10 discount for the 2nd child and then £20 for a third child. Payment can be made online to the following details, or you can of course provide a cheque (payable to ‘Upminster Cricket Club’) or cash to our team co-ordinator. Coach Support Workers • Coach Support Workers is an ECB initiative to provide parents and volunteers with skills and confidence in supporting qualified coaches deliver training sessions • In 2017, we held a course for 20 members – this has greatly enhanced our summer coaching schedule • https://www.ecb.co.uk/be-involved/coaching/coaching-courses/cricket-coach-support-worker • We have arranged another course on Saturday 14 April, and currently have 6 spaces remaining • The course runs from 1200-1700, is free of charge and is a lot of fun! 22 March 2018 UCC Colts Evening 20
Friday nights! • Fantastic cricket activity for all ages • Great social time and very busy • Very positive for UPC bar revenue • Dependent on volunteers – parents bar rota has worked very well in recent years • Social events planned during the season • Food from Kushoom Bugh available once a month • Any other ideas are very welcome! 22 March 2018 UCC Colts Evening 21
