General Manager’s Comments for the Month of April 2021 CLUB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Club AGM will be held in the Carmichael Room on Wednesday the 26 th of May at 7.00pm. Nominations for Directors positions will close on Wednesday the 19 th of May 2021. STATE PENNANT FINALS Congratulations to City Red on winning the Region Pennant Finals. The team will be heading to Moama this weekend to compete at State Level. Good Luck. SUGGESTIONS BOX A Suggestions Box has been placed in the Members Area as requested at the Bowls AGM. This is there for all members (and guests) to make suggestions on how to improve our wonderful club. Please use this as a constructive way to put forward any ideas that you have. Recommendations will go firstly to the General Manager, who reports each month at the board meeting on the suggestions made. The Board and General Manager appreciate all the ideas that you have, not every suggestion can always be implemented, but I promise you that your suggestions will always be considered. Chairman's Report We have had another busy month around the club with the bowls annual meeting and many bowls events. Well done to members who have accepted positions on committee’s for the next twelve months and l hope you enjoy your experience. We wish the players travelling to Moama to represent our club at the state pennant finals this weekend all the best in their endeavours to capture the title. Bowls President’s Report Congratulations to Kevin Carlin & Bryan Sheehan winning the Men’s Pairs final defeating David Wells & Bill Timms Congratulations to Bryan Sheehan, Kevin Carlin & Kevin Chiller winning the Men’s Triples final defeating Neville Billington, Brian Scott & Leo Dunne Congratulations to Casey Sheehan, Moira Cooknell & Karen Eagles winning the Ladies Triples final defeating Maureen O’Brien, Wendy Jelbart & Colleen Wooles Well done to Vince Moloney & Wayne Hall for making it to the last 16 in the Over 60 Men’s Pairs at Bendigo last week but were unsuccessful in making it any further. Good Luck to Pauline Burleigh and Kate Lloyd who play in the State Ladies Pairs next week in Bendigo. Congratulations to Margaret Hoy, Shirley Brown, Barbara Hart & Mary Pullen winning the Ladies Fours final defeating Julie Dosser, Casey Sheehan, Colleen Wooles & Judy Murnane Congratulations to Gary Smart, John Fitzgerald, Les Graham & Max Mclean winning the Men’s Club Fours final defeating Bruce Collie, Kevin McMahon, Matey Jones & Eric Hockley Good Luck to our Saturday Pennant Premiership team (Red) who are playing in the State Pennant Finals to be played in Moama on 24th & 25th April. Get your entries in for the Club Mixed Pairs to be played on Sunday 23rd May & Saturday 29th May. Also the Club Mixed Fours to be played on Sunday 30th May & Sunday 5th June. Tuesday & Saturday Social Bowls is back. Names to be in by 11.00am on relevant day for a 12.30pm start The Bowls AGM was well attended last Wednesday with a few new faces on some of the Committees. We hope that these Members enjoy their time on these committees. This was followed by a very tasty supper & drinks. The proposed date for the presentation dinner is on Sunday 6th June at Lunchtime. AROUND THE GREENS Men’s State Over 60’s Pairs Well done to Vince Moloney & Wayne Hall qualifying for the Men’s State Over 60 Pairs unfortunately losing there first game in Bendigo by 5 shots Ladies State Pairs Good Luck to Pauline Burleigh & Kate Lloyd for the upcoming Ladies State Pairs in Bendigo — I’m sure you will do us proud Echuca Tournament With 2 teams from City competing at this tournament Barbara, Mary, Annette & Lyn winning 3 games and 1 playoff to make the Semi finals on Thursday Colleen, Suzie, Adele & Jenny playing at Moama Ladies Seaside Triples The ladies Seaside Triples was a great success once again with 2 games per day played over 5 days. Well done to Barbara Bibby & Sally Madden for organising and running this event once again. The overall winners were: 1st Brolgas - Dorothy Gleeson, Jenny Moloney & Penny Jones 2nd Swans - Margaret Hoy, Shirley Brown & Lorna Bourke 3rd Koalas - Valeese Mabbitt, Karina Ellery & Veronica Cuzens 12
