First Things First... UC is a great deal and three campuses are accepting transfer applications in the month of July for Winter 2022 enrollment! UC Merced, UC Riverside and UC Santa Cruz are accepting transfer applications
Some facts that make the UC a great deal: • The Blue and Gold • Up to 16 prospective Scholarship matches on UC app • More than half, 57% to be exact, of California students who currently attend UC do not pay systemwide tuition and fees. • Currently 3 of every 4 California students attending UC receive grants and scholarships. The average award is nearly $17,000. • Currently 2 of every 5 CA students complete their UC degree with no student loan debt. The average student loan debt is about $10,000 less than the national average.

I T E M S Y O U W I L L N E E D T O G E T S TAR T E D • Copies of ALL transcripts (can be unofficial) • Include AP/IB and all other colleges • UC transferable GPA (not required but helpful to know) • UC transferable units completed, in progress, and planned • Intended major and possible alternate • 2019 income/tax information • List of activities, work experience, awards/honors, military service dates
TIPS & TRICKS ◼ Meet with a counselor for a transfer evaluation ◼ Start early and know application deadlines ◼ Always double check your entries ◼ Research universities – Know required and desired major preparation – Review majors offered at all 9 undergraduate campuses – Know if a supplemental application is required ◼ Prepare to pay $70 per UC application—fee waiver available to eligible students ◼ Application fee waiver is imbedded within the UC application

Navigating the Application Navigate the application with the navigation bar You can navigate the application in any order, but it is recommended that you fill out the application sequentially
Reviewing the Application Can select "review & submit" at any point to review entire application
Citizenship & Residency Undocumented students should choose "no selection" from the dropdown menu
Family Size & Income Report family size & income if you would like to be considered for the application fee waiver Dependent applicants will be asked to provide information about the parents they live with at their permanent address
Fee Waiver If you entered your family size and income in the “About you" section, you will see if you qualify for a fee waiver on this page
If Applying to UC San Diego… Each college has it’s own teaching/learning philosophy—rank them according to your interest. Must rank colleges in order of interest—7th college not available to transfers until Fall 2022—rank it as last option.
Academic History If you have a Transfer Admission Planner (TAP), you can import your coursework into the application by logging in to your TAP account Reminder: Make sure to use the same email address on both TAP and the UC app
Entering Academic History Tip: If a course is not showing in the menu, the course must be entered manually Enter ALL coursework listed on your transcript
Activities & Awards Students can enter up to 20 activities and awards Focus primarily on post-high school activities
Interested in the Scholarships & Programs Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)? Check the box! Select any and all scholarship categories that apply to you!
Personal Insight Questions (PIQs) Answer ONE required question & THREE selected questions from the remaining list. Tip: Download Word Doc to answer questions there & then copy/paste onto Application.
Important Deadlines/Notes • Apply by the deadline…July 31st! • Do not wait until July 31st to submit applications • Plan to complete a UC Transfer Application Update (also known as the TAU) by Sept. 15 (priority deadline) • The TAU requires you to report summer 2021 grades and fall 2021 planned courses. • Do not send transcripts unless requested by the university • Check your email regularly and often! • The Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) is an option provided you meet the requirements AND you submitted a TAG application in the month of May (2021)
