Exam Timings Attendance and punctuality is key. The exams are split into two sessions - a morning session and an afternoon session: The morning session begins at 10.00 am The afternoon session begins at 2.30 pm Students must gather on the patio area and be ready to enter the exam room no later than 15 minutes before the session is due to start. This is to ensure sufficient time for registers and instructions to be given in order for the examination to begin on time. Students will not be allowed to leave the exam room before the end of their examination. 4
Exam Entries & Timetables The exam entries, timetables and results will all be available only via the Pupil Portal. You will need to check entries for each exam board. You must identify any examination clashes and ensure you inform Mr Cairns as soon as possible. The timetable will also indicate the start time for each exam. To check your timetable, whilst in Pupil Portal: 5
Exam Clashes If a student identifies that they have two examinations running at the same time of day it is essential that they contact Mr Cairns (nickiwe.cairns@kings.education) as soon as possible. This does not mean that they cannot sit the two examinations, rather it will mean they sit one of them at a different time to the rest of the cohort. For instance, if a student needs to sit two examinations at the same time in the morning they will sit one examination during the AM session and the second during the PM session. Due to this it will be necessary for the student to go into isolation between exams. They will not be allowed access to any sort of internet enabled device, they will not be allowed to communicate with anybody other than the invigilator in charge of their isolation and they will be kept separate from the rest of the cohort. The exact procedure for this will be discussed on a case by case basis. In the rare occasions that a student needs to sit three examinations in one day an additional twilight exam session will be run after school. The student will be responsible for ensuring they have organised transport following the examination to their home. Calculators in Exams It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that their calculator meets the regulations below. If it is found not to meet these regulations it will be removed from them before the exam, a replacement will not be provided. 6
Examination Dates during Holidays There are two dates of note that all students must be aware of as these are scheduled during a school holiday or Puente: Fri 15th May - PUENTE (San Isidro) Holiday: PE Paper 2 This affects only those students sitting the Physical Education Paper 2. This is scheduled for the afternoon to begin at 2.30 pm. Students must arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start of this examination. Students sitting this exam are expected to make their own way into and out of the school. No lunch will be offered prior to the exam and they must arrive in full school uniform. Wed 24th June - JCQ Contingency Day Students should keep this day available until they have completed all of their examinations. In the highly unlikely event that there is national disruption to a day of examinations in summer 2020, as a last resort the affected examinations will be rescheduled up to and including the contingency day on 24 June 2020. The Exams Officer and Deputy Head will keep parents and students informed if this is likely to happen. Results Day & Post-Results Services All (I)GCSE results will be released to candidates by 10.00 am Thursday 20th August. These will only be available via the Pupil Portal. No results will be sent out via email or over the phone. Following the release of the results there will be a number of post-results services available which include: ● Requesting a Review of Marking of a specific examination paper ● Access to Electronic copy of a specific examination paper ● Access to Physical copy of a specific examination paper (pre- or post- review of marking) These post-results services incur an additional fee. Certificates By early to mid November 2020, (I)GCSE certificates will be sent to King’s College, La Moraleja. Students must pick up their certificates in person. Any other arrangements must be first discussed with the Exams Officer. 7
In accordance with the (JCQ) guidelines, the centre is only required to keep exam certificates for twelve months. Following this period the remaining certificates will be confidentially destroyed. A record of the destroyed certificates will be kept for four years. If the centre no longer has a certificate, the candidate will have to contact the exam board directly to order replacements. Candidates will be liable to pay any replacement costs. Further Queries Additional queries regarding the exam process can be made to the Exams Officer, Mr Nick Cairns (nickiwe.cairns@kings.education). 8
