Fellowship Opportunity for Brewers and Lovers
of Brew!
Tuesday, February 9, 2021 - Church of the Redeemer
The weather outside is frightful, and normally we would gather in
the warm glow of the 15,000BTU burner to undertake the alchemy
of turning barley, hops and yeast into that most wonderful libation.
But thanks to COVID, we are unable to gather in person. Fear not,
Bleak Midwinter Brewers! This Saturday, February 13th from
2pm until 4pm we will gather for a beer learning opportunity!
The Rector will be delivering small care packages of “educational
material” to your homes, and over Zoom we will learn all about Hazy
New England IPA!

Please RSVP to Rev. Mike: rector@redeemerchestnuthill.org
by February 10th so that he can gather the “materials” for the
care packages and get them to your door in time for the 13th!

This year, the Church of the Redeemer will be streaming an Ash
Wednesday service on Facebook and YouTube at noon on February
17th. It will also be available anytime thereafter if noon is not a
convenient time for you. Ashes for self-imposition during the
service will be mailed to families in advance. If you are
interested, please click on the link below to sign up and let us know
the total number of household members for whom you would like to
have ashes. Please submit your request no later than
Wednesday, February 10th, so we have time to mail them to
you.

If you haven't signed up by the 10th, one envelope of ashes
per household will available outside the office door from
Tuesday, February 9, 2021 - Church of the Redeemer
February 14th through February 17th.

If you are planning to attend the in-person outdoor family Ash
Wednesday service at 5:00pm that evening, there is no need to sign
up as there will be ashes waiting for you when you arrive.

Many thanks.

Sunday, February 14th

Bishop Gayle Harris will preach at the 10:00am
livestream service and 11:30am outdoor service.

Redeemer Reach Out Invites You to Spread the Love

Valentine's Day is another great excuse for spreading God's love!
Anne Grandin and Cara Morvan want to encourage you to send a
friendly Valentine note (in the mail!) to a Redeemer friend. Perhaps
someone who you haven't heard from in a while? Or someone you
miss sitting next to in the pews? Children are also encouraged to
send a note--everyone loves handmade cards! You can find
everyone's emails in the Directory on the church website. You can
also reply to this email if you would like a pdf of the directory.

The importance of FUEL
Tuesday, February 9, 2021 - Church of the Redeemer
Thank you for your generosity!

The limits on some food purchases make it difficult for us to gather
the quantities of food needed. Currently, we are filling 185 bags
with food each week, twice what we were doing in the fall.
Thanks to the continued support of so many of you, we have not
had to refuse any requests for food.

Here specifically is what you could donate. Even one or two helps,
but sizes are important. While larger sizes may seem more generous
and economical, the bags quickly become too heavy for the
recipients and for the drivers who lift as many as 40 bags.

Canned chicken (12.5oz) or tuna (5oz each)
     Bag or can of beans
     Peanut butter (18oz)
Individual serving cups of fruit or applesauce
     1 lb. pasta (any type)
     1 lb. rice
     Box macaroni and cheese
     Cereal (10-12 oz)
     Crackers (10-12 oz), e. g. Wheat Thins/Triscuits
Marinara sauce (24 oz), preferably in plastic jar
     Hearty soup

Click here to sign up to sort, pack or deliver bags.

St. Stephen’s families would also appreciate $50 VISA gift
cards. These cards may be purchased online or in person at stores
throughout the area. These we ask to be sent to the Redeemer
Parish Office or dropped off in the mail slot at Redeemer.

Save the Date: Shrove Tuesday Dance Party Next Week!

Since children, teens and families can't gather for a Pancake Dinner
or Pancake Games, Starr Peteet and Louisa Sylvia of the Sunday
School Committee have come up with the great idea of an online
zoom dance party! This Sunday Schooler above already has her
dancing shoes picked out--why not join her and do some partying on
the last night before Lent sets in? Join us from 6:30pm on,
Tuesday the 16th. The link will be in your Saturday email, or just
send Emily a note to get it.
Rev. Emily and Youth Minister Barrie Rose invite you to join them for
these drop-in meetings--a Christian space to share and process what
you and your family are learning about racism and anti-racism. You
can bring questions, concerns, experiences, or frustrations to this
space, and we will think about them together as Christians. The
link will be in the Saturday emails. If you're interested in
learning more, including the guidelines for the evening, just email
Rev. Emily.

Also, please refer to the Redeemer calendar for classes and other
schedules. Many blessings to all!

Join us every Thursday evening at 7:30pm for our
Weekly Meeting on Becoming Beloved Community

This week we will discuss some history related to the
Episcopal church, and how this touches on current
realities. Next week we will begin a new book, “How to
Fight Racism” by Jemar Tisby which offers “an array of
actionable items” and “roots the ultimate solution to
racism in the Christian faith as we embrace the
implications of what Jesus taught his followers.”

Email Rev. Emily for the Zoom link to join our discussions.
Newcomers and new perspectives are always welcome!

    Debby, James, Emily & Mike

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper
time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
