THE NORTH STAR: NEW YEAR, SAME PRECAUTIONS
by President Miles K. Davis

A new year is an opportunity for new beginnings, and we’re certainly ready for some of those. With that
in mind, today is a noteworthy day. It marks, of course, the beginning of another semester on the
McMinnville campus (even as we work hard to be ready for the later start of the spring semester at our
new Portland campus).

We are thrilled to have you back on campus, and welcome those who are joining us this spring for the
rst time. We know many of you chose Lin eld because you appreciate the sense of community here.
Though that sense of community looks a little different than in past years, it is our shared community
that will allow us to nonetheless forge ahead.

We want to be able to continue to offer in-person living and learning, but we need your help to make it
feasible. Remember that Wild for Our Health pledge most of you signed in the fall? We still need you to
adhere to those protocols in order to keep yourself and others safe. Vaccines are coming, but for now
please remember to wear your face masks, practice physical distancing, wash your hands and keep in- /

person gatherings small. Whenever possible, stay on campus to avoid the risk of picking up the virus
elsewhere and bringing it back.

We have had many occasions to tell people about our success in the fall. When people ask me how we
were able to do it, I tell them the truth. We were able to do it because our students are exceptional. We
need you to be exceptional again this semester. Please take care of yourself and those around you.

Happy new year,
Miles K. Davis, president

CampusDirector. Sign up now to receive the Zoom info for orientation and the rest of recruitment week!
