WELCOME The new season has arrived and we are really excited to be welcoming Cardiff City Ladies to Manadon for our first home league game of the Season. There has been a lot of change at the football club over the summer, both on and off the pitch. We have had a limited pre-season due to MANAGER RYAN PERKS this, but the girls have been fantastic over the last three weeks and have brought into the new style of football and ideas Mark and myself have brought into the football club. We had a disappointing result last week away to Keynsham but the result didn’t reflect the game and we had many positives to take from the performance, especially with a debut goal from Meg Williams. The work-rate of such a young squad was excellent and the girls continued to play and implement the plan. Patience will be needed, both on and off the pitch, as this is a new THE WORK-RATE OF SUCH young squad and it will take time to gel and enforce the ideas, but we are very optimistic for the future of the football club. A YOUNG SQUAD WAS We thank you for your continued support of the football club and EXCELLENT AND THE GIRLS we would like to thank Simon Hallett and Plymouth Argyle Football Club with their continued support of Plymouth Argyle Ladies FC. INTERVIEW KATIE MIDDLETON CAPTAIN KATIE It is great to be back playing football. We’ve had a couple of pre-season games but there is nothing like proper league action. It will definitely be a different season to previous campaigns, we have a new management team and a lot of new players, many of whom are very young and inexperienced. They are now playing at a higher level and it will be all about giving them experience. We will be working as hard as we can to reach the highest level possible and hopefully we can do enough to be competitive in the league. It won’t be as easy to contest higher up the league as previous years but we all see it as a challenge. This season will be about development, giving young players experience and I hope to play my part in that. This is my 22nd season with Argyle and I need to use all that knowledge to help the younger players as much as possible. If we can improve these players, give them a better understanding of the game, it all bodes well for the future. The changes behind the scenes at the club has created a very clear pathway for players and it is incredible to see. When I first started playing, there was no local league football for girls. From an Argyle perspective, we have teams right the way through the age groups, feeding into the development squad and giving them an opportunity to learn the game. Adult football is obviously very different to youth football and players need the chance to adapt. We have already had several youngsters making that journey through the pathway and this season will continue that process. There is no better way of learning than by competing in the first-team environment. 6
