W EXECUTIVE OFFICER – WEST COAST FEVER Employer West Coast Fever Netball Club Limited Reports to West Coast Fever Board – via the Chair and the Netball WA Chief Executive Officer; Title Executive Officer Location State Netball Centre, 200 Selby Street, Jolimont, Perth Position Overview The West Coast Fever Netball Club (club) is uniquely placed as the only Suncorp Super Netball Club that operates as a wholly owned entity. Netball WA (Inc) established the West Coast Fever Netball Club late in 2016 to establish a competitive advantage through a leading operations model as netball embraced the commencement of Suncorp Super Netball. We are now seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill a key leadership role. Reporting to the West Coast Fever Board via the Chair and the Chief Executive Officer of Netball WA, the Executive Officer (EO) of West Coast Fever will provide strategic and operational management and leadership to ensure the delivery of the Club’s core performance outcomes, ensuring we strive to deliver against our purpose to inspire and make you proud. As a leader of the Club, the EO will play an integral role in developing and delivering the strategic objectives of the Club. The sustained and measured success and outcomes of the Club beyond the court are critical and present a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on high performance netball in Western Australia through the facilitation of services back to Netball WA and its Affiliates. The EO will scope, facilitate and secure all necessary resourcing including the employment and engagement of key staff, contractors and other external facilitators to deliver the West Coast Fever and other associated elite high performance programs including the Western Sting. Achievement of self-sustainability through growth in membership, ticket sales and corporate, local, state and federal government support is critical for West Coast Fever’s participation in the Suncorp Super Netball Competition. In addition to driving strategic plan objectives, a key focus will be centred on the collective achievement of agreed outcomes of the sports High Performance Plan and broader vision of Netball WA. A professional, proactive and collaborative working relationship with Netball WA and its affiliates, Netball Australia the Australian Netball Players Association, WAIS, DLGSCI, the Members and Fans of West Coast Fever and the wider high performance sporting community will ensure the successful achievement of this position’s objectives. Core Responsibilities • Lead the accountability of the values and behaviours of the West Coast Fever Netball Club within the playing group and staff. This reach will impact netball and greater Western Australian communities advocating the sport as a deliverer in service and performance excellence; • Reporting to the West Coast Fever Board against the delivery of agreed strategic objectives, ensuring compliance and implementation of the operational requirements. • Lead the planning of the club to ensure the club is well prepared for the future in collaboration with Head Coach, Performance Staff, NWA Community staff and NWA Shared Services. • Play a key role in planning and stakeholder management to ensure WCF can deliver on all requirements for Community Engagement, Corporate Partners, League Partners and Player Contracts in line with CPA; • In collaboration with the Head Coach, NWA CEO and the West Coast Fever Board, deliver key Club outcomes and achievement against the West Coast Fever Strategic Plan; 1
W EXECUTIVE OFFICER – WEST COAST FEVER • Manage and oversee the Clubs financial management mechanisms including budgets, player payments, reimbursements, medical payments and insurance claims; • Support the management of the Clubs operations driven by the Netball WA Shared Services and Corporate Services departments; • Ensure all aspects of operational delivery is fully compliant with all mandated regulatory frameworks; • Lead in collaboration with the Head Coach the recruitment and retention of key talent both on and off the court and delivery of the high performance program. • Manage the Clubs operational relationship with key agencies including the Australian Netball Players Association, Netball Australia, Sport and Recreation WA and Western Australian Institute of Sport to achieve positive outcomes and return on investment; • Lead the Performance Operations Teams across both West Coast Fever, West Coast Fever Academy and Western Sting ensuring they operate effectively in the development of coordinated strategies, policies, plans, initiatives and budgets including regular appraisal of performance against objectives; • Maximise all high performance opportunities of the State Netball Centre for the Club West Coast Fever Academy and Western Sting; Key Duties • Lead and drive the creation of a culture of continuous improvement and promote and develop organisational effectiveness and performance by driving excellence and improvement strategies across the Club. • Lead the continuous improvement by developing and delivering new initiatives to maximise and further enhance team and club culture in conjunction with West Coast Fever Head Coach, West Coast Fever Board and NWA CEO; • Oversee the day to day management of Club operations and its underpinning programs; • Collaborate with the NWA Community Netball department on the delivery of the sub elite programs; • Manage the Club’s finance and budget processes ensuring strict compliance to Club policy and procedures and those legislated by Netball Australia for Suncorp Super Netball including but not limited to salary cap compliance; • Prepare periodic financial reports as required by the Audit and Finance Committee; • Manage the Clubs ongoing HR processes, including employment contracts and service agreements of key Performance Team individuals, player contracting in close collaboration with the Head Coach and Netball WA- People and Culture Department; • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the wider Performance Team to develop and use appropriate measures, outputs and outcomes, monitor & review the application of such processes to ensure they contribute to high quality organisational performance in close collaboration with the Head Coach; • Actively engage in the wider Performance Team to ensure it operates effectively in the development of coordinated strategies, policies, plans and initiatives including regular appraisal of performance against objectives; • Oversee the strict adherence to the Integrity policies by all members of the West Coast Fever, West Coast Fever Academy and Western Sting teams (players, coaches and support staff ); • Lead in conjunction with the WCF Head Coach and the WCF Team Medical Officer ensure best practice in athlete preparation, injury management and rehabilitation both on and off court, including insurance frameworks; • Develop and manage the operational plans of the West Coast Fever ensuring all key performance measures are achieved in line with the Envisio platform; • Maximise opportunities to ensure enhancement of recruitment and retention of players, coaches and support staff for the West Coast Fever and underpinning elite teams. • Through the NWA shared services framework, assist in the development and implementation of identified High Performance Programs in conjunction with the NWA Community Netball Department; 2
W EXECUTIVE OFFICER – WEST COAST FEVER • Support the NWA Shared Services Department in their delivery of key Strategic outcomes across Community and Fans, Partnerships and Alliances and Business Operations pillars of the West Coast Fever Strategic plan. • Oversee the development and management of relevant frameworks for the West Coast Fever Risk Management procedures and protocols in consultation with the Risk and Governance Committee; • Assist the NWA GM -People and Culture, Shared Services Unit & WCF Company Secretary in ensuring key club policy and procedures are reviewed, updated and enforced; • Ensure management processes are in place to ensure the Clubs key assets including but not limited to Recovery equipment, Injury Management and Rehabilitation equipment and high performance analysis and testing equipment are maintained; • Ensure sound management practices are in place to maximise the use of the State Netball Centre in collaboration with the NWA Venue Manager; • Build strong and professional relationships with key NWA stakeholders to ensure the players and support staff’s visibility and profile are maximised to benefit the whole of sport; • Proactively nurture, build and strengthen positive working relationships with all associated external agencies including but not limited to Netball Australia, WAIS, Sport and Recreation WA and key commercial partners to reflect the work, professionalism and ethos of Netball WA. Drive the adherence to the Clubs vision. • Assist WCF Board, Head Coach and NWA CEO in delivery of key messages and achievement of key strategic goals; • Prepare reports and reviews and conduct presentations as required; • Attend West Coast Fever Board meetings and represent West Coast Fever on various groups and committees and liaise with other organisations and individuals on matters as required; • Any other duties within the Employees capabilities and which is reasonable to expect the Employee to undertake as directed by the NWA CEO or West Coast Fever Board from time to time. W EXECUTIVE OFFICER – WEST COAST FEVER Hours of work The role is a full time maximum termed position working 37½ hours per week for an initial term of up to 2 years. Due to the nature of this position out of hours and weekend work will be required including interstate travel requirements. Salary • An attractive salary package including access to a company motor vehicle and remuneration of up to $105,000 plus superannuation will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependant on level of experience.
