News from 1C 1C has had a busy start to the term. We are enjoying reading some of Roald Dahl’s books, such as Esio Trot and the Twits. We watched the movie of Esio Trot and are going to make a comparison between the book and the movie. Our next step is to start writing stories of our own. Last week we went to Thalgarrah. We had lots of fun making maps out of rocks, dirt and grasses. We also got to use binoculars and then created some impressive art works from our observations. Highlights of our excursion were when we learnt the basics of basket weaving and meeting Matt’s python. We have all been excited about the tennis lessons continuing this term. A couple of weeks ago we said sadly goodbye to our classmate Dakshin as he travelled back to Nepal. Mrs Cook, Mrs Corrdingly and 1C News from 3/4E This term, 3/4E have been making and exploring the different features of a 3D object. Below are some pictures of our learning. We used tooth picks and blu-tac to create our models. We have also been using recycled materials to create and design our own space shuttles. We watched videos of astronauts from NASA to help guide our designs. We learnt how an astronaut eats, drinks water, sleeps, uses the toilet and exercises. We had to take this learning into consideration when planning our own space shuttles. We have been working with 3/4M and we are having a blast! We have not finished them yet, so we ask that if you have any recyclables at home, The Yr 5/6 Canberra excursion such as yoghurt containers, plastic lids or boxes, we would has been filled.
