GENERAL NEWS
Anzac Day Sunday, 25 April
With the relaxation of Covid restrictions the Barmedman Anzac
Committee are delighted to announce: Barmedman can once
again honour the Anzac’s with the traditional March to Soldiers
Memorial Park, followed by a service with a full Catafalque Party
and laying of wreaths. The service will commence at 11:00am and
everyone is invited commemorate our Veteran’s. Members of the
RAAF have also been invited to attend.
Children and anyone who would like to March please assemble in
front of the Police Station at 10.30am.
The March will commence from the front of the Police Station and
proceed down Queen Street to Soldiers Memorial Park.
The Public Health Order for Anzac Day Services requires all adults to sign in at the entry to Soldiers
Memorial Park and follow social distancing guidelines. For this reason, anyone who wishes to attend
the service is requested to plan their arrival to allow time to sign in and settle in the Park prior to
the service commencement time of 11:00am. Please feel free to bring a chair as chairs will not be
supplied from the hall this year.
There will be no Anzac luncheon this year, but you are welcome to enjoy lunch at the Barmedman
Art, Craft and Coffee Shop where there will be homemade pies, sausage rolls, sandwiches and slices
for sale and an opportunity to meet with the RAAF representatives (if they are in attendance) or just
to have a yarn with your fellow Barmedmanites. Linda and Steve have offered the use of the Gallery
space next door at number 72 to ensure attendance numbers won’t need to be limited.
It would be appreciated if you could let the shop know by Thursday 22 April if you would like to
have lunch there (although it’s not necessary).
If it is wet there will be no March. The Anzac Service, however, will take place in the Community Hall
including a wreath laying. Help with setting out the chairs on Saturday afternoon at 2pm would be
very much appreciated.Junior Postie
The Barmedman Post Office have been trialling a new initiative
to help our young families engage with the community and
each other.
Each week a Barmedman family is given the job of delivering
unaddressed mail to residents. This gives them an opportunity
to work as a family group, learn to be proud of doing a good
job and being rewarded for their efforts.
Our local Jr Posties are enthusiastic and do a great job, we're
very proud of their efforts.

The Post Office is rolling out special safety vest for the family teams so watch for them and maybe
a smile and thankyou would go a long community way.

JUST FOR LAUGHS
A general and a captain walking down the street passed a number of soldiers, and each time one of
them saluted the officers, the captain saluted back and said, “The same to you.”
“Why do you always say that?” the general asked the captain.
“I used to be a private, too,” said the captain, “and I know just what they are thinking.”
An Australian captain yelled at a private after a particularly risky and unnecessary manoeuvre, “did
you come here to die!”
He said, “Nah mate, came ere yesterdie”
