The camps will combine a mix of activities which support overall health, wellness, and fitness,
including swimming, tennis, and field games, among others. Participants will be taught how
to have fun on their bikes with fun drills, freestyle riders, and encouragement.

For ages 4-6:
The mountain biking portion of this camp will focus on building confidence on a bike –
and having a ton of fun! Teaching proper riding techniques, basic bike mechanics, and
nature and forest values. Participants aged 4-6 must be off training wheels and able to
ride a 2-wheeler on their own.

For ages 7-13:
This camp will travel to 3 Stage Mountain Bike Area for 4 mornings of the week. Drop
off will be at 3 Stage. This mountain biking portion is for intermediate bikers that want
to build on their skills and knowledge with a group that moves within the intermediate
levels. Rad Adventures will help build the confidence of participants by teaching proper
riding techniques, trail etiquette, basic mechanic skills – from how to put a chain back
on, to how to fix a flat tire, use tools and adjust components – use of equipment, road
and trail safety, nature and forest values, and that mountain biking is a sport that will
keep them healthy, happy, and strong their entire lives. The focus is on the joy and
thrill of riding, in a fun, supportive, and safe environment!

The Camp will combine a mix of activities which support overall health and wellness, as well
as fun crafts and games.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF GOING TO CAMP?

People of all ages benefit from going to camp! Research shows that camp helps
children grow into independent and self-confident adults. Camps contribute to
healthy child development. Age-appropriate activities give campers the resilience
and confidence to tackle any obstacle.
A camper’s day is filled with learning, laughter, and plenty of adventures.
Participants can use their newfound skills in the classroom, their extracurricular
activities, and their adulthood.
After a camp experience, many campers show improvement in the areas of:
    Communication and relationship building
    Patience and tolerance
    Fairness and equity
    Resilience and grit
    Responsibility
    Independence

    Problem-solving skills
    Teamwork and cooperation
    Emotional intelligence

                  CAMPER CODE OF CONDUCT

The proper behaviour of our campers, as well as the professionalism of our staff
and volunteers, is integral to the success of the camps and summer club at
Osler. Staff will be responsible for communicating behavioural expectations,
encourage appropriate behaviours and using group management techniques to
create an environment which prevents serious behaviours from happening. As
well, our staff needs to know that parents are supportive of our efforts and can be
relied upon for assistance if necessary. Parents will be notified of any behaviour
that affects their camper or others from full participation.
Serious behaviours are those which interfere with the quality of the program
being delivered or harm one’s safety. These behaviours require documentation
and for the staff to take immediate action to ensure safety. Parents, caregivers,
and program supervisors will be made aware of these behaviours immediately.
Some serious behaviours warrant expedited response and could result in
removal from the program before completing all of the above steps.
Examples of these serious behaviours include:
         - Aggression or violence towards others
         - Lewd or sexual behaviour
         - Destruction of property or others’ personal belongings
         - Reoccurring offensive or rude language
         - Ongoing disruptive behaviour

Parents/caregivers will be notified if participant is not meeting behavioural
expectations or following verbal rules or instructions. Participants endangering
their safety or another person’s safety may be asked to leave the program, to not
participate, and/or only return when accommodations can be made to ensure the
safety of all.
Please be sure to read and discuss these guidelines with your child. It is
important that parents and campers are aware of the behaviour expectations at
camp.

                                                                                    10
