Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been an exciting couple of weeks! I was so proud to see Year 3 crowned
as Britain’s Funniest Class and the media frenzy that followed where we were
stars on national and local television and radio, even appearing on
Newsround.

Science Week has been really inspiring for everyone. The children had the
opportunity to examine owl pellets, investigate fingerprints and footprints and learn
about sequencing and separating DNA. Years 5 and 6 were visited by a Scenes of
Crime Officer who explained about forensic testing.

Years 5 & 6 had a great time on Ancient Greece Day with food tasting, Olympics, drama and a
workshop led by the Rainbow Theatre.

I was also very pleased to welcome so many of our new parents for September to a meeting on
Wednesday; thank you to the Governors for attending, SOCS for the refreshments and Mrs Coshan
for sorting the new uniform.

Tik Tok
There have been some concerns raised recently regarding this app and I would like you to be
aware that there is little regulation or censorship as to what adverts or videos can be uploaded to it.
I am taking this opportunity to remind you to continue to have open conversations with your children
regarding information that they are accessing online. It is also important that they know what to do if
they see anything that worries them or is inappropriate or unsuitable and how they can report it.

Wooden Pallets – Your Help Please
Thank you for your brilliant response to our plea for wooden pallets with which to build shelters for
the field and playground. We have been able to source thirty pallets which means we can construct
five shelters but we need some help to do that! The pallets need to be sanded down and then
screwed /nailed together so if you can offer some time and expertise please contact Mrs Barnard in
the Office by phone 01403 734822 or by e-mail office@castlewoodprimary.co.uk. Thank you.

So Father’s Day has come and gone and at Rocketeers the children enjoyed making chocolate
fudge and monster cards to take home for the special men in their lives. The children took
advantage of the (very small) amount of sunshine which we had last week and held their own
practise for sports day. Alongside all the Father’s Day activities they also spent their time inside,
during all the rain, making a ‘Rocketeers Family Tree.’
