Ontario Cycling Association February 2021 Newsletter Ontario Cycling Association Announces 2021 Preliminary Events Calendar The Ontario Cycling Association [OCA] would like to announce our Preliminary event calendars for the 2021 Season. The OCA has been working with several organizers over the last few months to create a safe and compatible calendar while staying within guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and the Ontario Government. With physical distancing still being required, events currently on the preliminary calendar will be based on various individual start formats. 2021 Insurance Program Participating Provincial and Territorial Associations (PPA) Insurance Program The Ontario Cycling Association [OCA] is pleased to announce our new insurance broker for the 2021 season is Arthur J. Gallagher Canada Limited. Any 2021 OCA issued UCI License holder, Citizen Permit holder and A liate Club Member have access to this program as well as other services members can opt into if they should choose so. For additional information and application forms please visit: Insurance Program Canadian Athlete Insurance Program (CAIP) Additional Insurance coverage is available to OCA Members via CAIP. This coverage is arranged directly thru M. Kirsch Financial Services. For more information please visit: CAIP Insurance 2021 OCA Membership New for the 2021 race season, the OCA will be accepting Citizen Permits for all provincially sanctioned races and categories. Those members who will be racing Nationally or Internationally will still be required to purchase a UCI Licence to race outside the province. If you would like to have a vote at the Annual General Meeting you will need to hold either a General Membership or UCI License one month prior to AGM. Memberships are issued digitally for all OCA members. Only UCI Licences are able to be provided as a physical card. Note the cost for this is $12.00/card and can be selected during the registration process. You may access your issued 2021 OCA membership via CCN Bikes 24/7 via your pro le. For steps on how to access your membership card during the season, please see the included step-by- step instructions graphic. Cards can be downloaded as a PDF, as well as saved in Google Pay and Apple Wallet. Turn around for processing licences at peak times is approximately 1-2 weeks, 2-3 if mailing a printed card. Return to Sport Update The Ontario Cycling Association's latest Return to Sport update can be found on our website at: https://www.ontariocycling.org/covid-19-information/ As we continue to progress through the COVID-19 situation, updates will be made and posted on this page, with the most recent updates also appearing on the OCA Homepage. 2021 Ontario Women's Cycling Week This year will be the OCA's 5th annual Ontario Women's Cycling Week/Ontario Women's Cycling Day. In 2020 we expanded the event to a full week of activities which included daily webinars with great feedback. The week of May 31 to June 6 2021 the OCA will be hosting this years Ontario Women's Cycling Week with several webinars focusing on riders from any age group, discipline or level of ability. Participating clubs will be hosting club rides following all COVID-19 Government and Public Health Guidelines. Newmarket Eagles/Uxbridge Cycling Club Time Trial (June 5) Stay tuned for more updates: Ontario Women's Cycling Week Tony Osborne Memorial Youth Fund It is with great honour that the Ontario Cycling Association, in collaboration with the Newmarket Eagles, announces the creation of the Tony Osborne Memorial Youth Fund. Named in recognition of the late Tony Osborne, the Youth Fund’s main purpose is to aid, in various capacities, in the development of young cyclists within the province. To reduce cost barriers related to cycling programs the OCA relies heavily on grants, sponsorship and donations. 100% of all donations towards the Tony Osborne Memorial Youth Fund will go towards subsidizing youth programming costs. All donations will be eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
