WELCOME FROM OUR GOLF SOCIETY CHAIRMAN Renter Warden Air Cdre Paul Nash OBE BSc RAF (Ret’d) “Fellowship is one of the key themes of life in our Company. Joining our Plumbers’ Golf Society is a great way to play your golf at some iconic golf courses, in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere both on and off the links…” In the last few years the Golf Society has gone from strength to strength including winning The Horners’ Trophy and automatically qualifying for The Prince Arthur Cup - the “Major” of Inter-Livery golf. However, we always look to balance success on the links with having a lot of fun and ensuring that everyone, no matter what level they play at, can attend our Spring and Autumn meetings which are open to all Members and their golfing friends. Our annual golf day is held at New Zealand Golf Club in Surrey and is always popular. An ideal opportunity for Members to bring their guests and to entertain them at one of the hidden gems on the golfing None of us know exactly how 2021 is going to pan circuit. The lunch is significant and The Master is out. But let’s all be positive that, fingers crossed, invited to join us and to hand out the prizes for the the lockdown will end and there will be time to Member and Guest Competitions. get together, play some golf and enjoy ourselves. I am delighted that Steward Tony Peters has stepped I look forward to playing alongside you soon. in to take over as our Treasurer from the safe and wise hands of Liveryman Don Munro. Don has been the mainstay of our Golf Society for many years and we thank him for his enthusiasm, passion and wise counsel. Liveryman Mick Munro has moved back to the North and taking over as our Secretary is Liveryman David Hannam. David has been working hard to put together what I am sure you can see is a varied and interesting programme of golf for 2021. The 2020 Livery golf calendar was all but abandoned due to the pandemic, but we did manage to hold our Autumn Meeting at Wildernesse GC in September.

The course was designed by the great James Braid and opened in 1905. LIFE ON THE LIVERY LINKS The objective of the Plumbers’ Golf Society is to provide social golf to maintain COMPANY and grow existing friendships formed in the fellowship of our Livery Company, and to encourage new friendships to form between The Society members and ALIGNMENT other Livery Company golfers. Friendship The Society will support and align to the Aims and Objectives of The Worshipful Company of Plumbers as set out on the Company Website. Social Events The Society is bound by and agrees to be governed by the rules of golf and Charity amateur status as laid down and from time to time regulated by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R & A), the English Golf Union (EGU) and Handicapping rules from CONGU. Raising Profile The Society Committee will normally comprise three people, the Chairman, the Supporting The Secretary, and the Treasurer. Other Members may be co-opted on from time- Lord Mayor and to-time, such as a Senior Advisor Fellow Liveries COMMITTEE Membership of The Society is open to any Liveryman or Freeman from The Worshipful Company of Plumbers, their Spouse/Partner and their immediate 2021 family upon payment by each individual of the annual subscription. CHAIRMAN All Plumbers’ Golf Society events are open to all Members. Paul Nash The Inter-Livery team events may be limited to Liveryman or Freeman holding a World Handicap System Handicap Index as a member of a Golf Club. TREASURER Tony Peters The Spring and Autumn meeting competitions are open to members without a Handicap Index. The member will be limited to a maximum of 28 shots (men) and 36 shots (ladies) as a Playing Handicap. SECRETARY David Hannam Most Plumbers’ Events will be played as Stableford off 95% Playing Handicap in line with CONGU recommendations for singles competitions. SENIOR ADVISOR All members must be mindful of the standard of dress required by The Society Don Munro whilst on the premises of a golf day venue or as required by the Host Livery. This will normally be golf attire during the day and then jacket and Plumbers’ tie (men) or smart casual (ladies) for the meal in the Clubhouse.
