Blue Arrow Information Booklet for Airbus Congratulations, you’ve just made your first step on what we hope will be a long and exciting journey with Blue Arrow and Airbus. Most roles will be working within a busy production environment. However, we also recruit to a number of other support positions including office based roles. Below we have created some job profiles to show you what to expect when working at Airbus: Production Areas Before being placed on the shop floor you will be allocated a training programme for up to 12 weeks. This training is carried out at the on-site training facility and covers areas such as health & safety, standard operations and interpreting Airbus drawings. Following this period of training you will be allocated to an area within the factory e.g. A380, A350 and placed on a specific shift pattern (see later section for shift pattern information). Once you are placed in the factory you must attend the pre-shift meeting where you’re Airbus Process Manager or Team Coordinator assigns the work packages for the day. (All production operations are split into work packages with varying time limits; you will receive full training before being expected to carry out these operations). For your first few weeks on the shop floor you will be paired up with an experienced Operator who will be on hand to answer questions and to supervise your work. All shop floor operators are required to attend a 1A and 1B quality course, at the end of which you will be able to self-certify that your work has been completed to the required Airbus quality standards. Until you have passed your 1A and 1B quality course your work will be checked by someone else. With manufacturing operations being carried out, the shop floor is obviously a noisy environment and hearing protection must be worn at all times, except on the safe walkways. The nature of the work is physical and repetitive and you may find yourself carrying out the same operation for a considerable period of time. If you are required to work in the wing tanks you may find yourself having to carry out production processes whilst in an awkward body position. For this reason regular posture breaks must be taken. Office Areas You will be working in an office alongside Airbus core employees, reporting to your Airbus Task Manager on a day-to-day basis. You will be provided with an Airbus network and email account together with access to any specialist systems required to carry out your job. Depending upon your role, you may be required to travel to other Airbus sites and/or supplier sites, both domestically and abroad. 2 BLUE ARROW │ AIRBUS
